I was talking to a hotrod supplier today who runs a Neon which he is modifying. His shop supplies alot of ricers.

He told me he was running about 16.7 ET with his Neon, and all about his mods.

I told him I was 15.474 ET stock and he had words like 'wow' and 'that's pretty ok".

When I told him about my mods he commented "your Fiero should fly" and "that's really impressive"

I told him I am aiming for low 14's and he thought I should be able to do it easily.

Nice to know our cars get respect when you start educating other car buffs.

Don't get too excited. I own both, and run both on the road coarses. My Neon (a 95 DOHC with monor mods) is faster than the Fiero with a stock V6. Now, at the drag strip the Fiero has an advantage, being RWD. However, I did meet a guy at the drags at Fontana (Cal. Speedway) who has an "all motor" Neon that runs 14.2.'s. Not bad until you consider my good friend's Dodge Omni that runs 12.90's (turbo, of course).

People respect them when they get to know them a little bit.
most who dont like Fieros are ignorant, or got beat.

I know a lot of people who didnt like my car, got to know it
and like it. This isnt to say they want to go out and buy one,
they just get over the whole fire thing.

i own a neon, a 98 R/T to be specific...i hate it. it handles really nice but the motor is just not up to par with the suspension if that makes any sense to you. the R/T's have different gears in them and i think that motor needs a bit more snap in every gear except 1st...you need to rev the piss out of the motor for it to pull. i've never got 1/4 times but i've ESTIMATED that it does about 85 mph in the 1/4...not too impressive IMO. i've never driven a non R/T 5-speed neon but i don't expect it to be TOO much different. i can't tell ya the diff between the fiero and the neon cause to tell ya the truth i haven't driven my fiero yet...'cept around the yard a few times.
