yep as topic says. I dont recall seeing a single fiero with the 3800 plastic cover on them. I like the motor but the cover really makes the look. Chrome it, Color match it, sand off the 3800SC and badge it.. anything.. Thanks

I recall Skitime's reason is that GM usually uses the cover to literally cover up the mess of wires and hoses they created. He went through a lot of effort to make his engine "pretty" therefore there is no reason to cover it up. I agree.
Plus the engine sits the other way in the FWD cars and you would have to cut the cover up to fit the way we put them in. also something to with the oil filer cap as well, since we have to swap the valve covers around as well.
man you guys are quick.. just post and 15 views already.. LOVE THIS PLACE.. I really like that therory though. I poped the Aurora today and what a stinkin mess.. poor wires! If i do a 3800sc though It'll be a slapjob to get it done so cover would work for me. any other ideas?

think most of us want to show it off its just to hide the mess under there, clean it paint it and it really comes alive. I think they have flashy stickers you can buy for it, but I know almost every GP owner takes them off
And to be clear it did take a lot of work to make it work. Probably could have done better but ran out of time.
For the record GM uses these engine covers to cut down on noise from the injectors. Why else would they waste money on sound insulation that is bonded to the underside of these covers? Remember the vast type of people who buy a 3800-equipped car is the old people who want a quiet car.

I'm actually planning on modifying the valve covers so that I can use the cover. I also have looked into the Series III cover, as it's black, and looks a lot slicker than the Series II cover, but will require a little "I" to be shaved off so that I'm not asked if it's actually a Series III. At 67.xx from the dealer new, it's not too $$ either.

1. Have you ever seen a tricked out supercharged engine with the blower hidden under a piece of cheap plastic? Get serious. 2. The enemy of a supercharger is heat. Why would anyone put a cover over it to block cooling air? Leave it to GM 3. Superchargers are cool looking and should be shown off. Not hidden.
