Since I need to make progress and want to get some other projects going, I know I know, should finish one at a time but hell, I want to get the interior stuff. Today I started on the gauge pods. I'm going with the cluttered A pillar look. I got the two gauge pods to fit. I noticed that the two gauge pods have the gauges a little offset. I got them mounted with the first layer of fiber glass and test fitted. Here are a couple of preview pics. I plan on getting them totally molded into the a pillar trim and painted the stock grey color.
Hey DKOV - one step closer to installing that headliner.
Oh, if anyones interested, the pillar pods will hold the following:
Temp gauge Volt gauge Oil pressure gauge Air/Fuel mixture gauge
Thanks for looking...

Boy! that sure looks really tight Chester. Question was that a (4) gauge pod holder or (2) molded in? I'm getting mine molded in as I type, just not as pretty as your though. I email'd you some pics. Keep up the good work.
Yup, that was two 2 gauge pods glassed together. I couldn't find a 4 gauge single. I should be done with it tomorrw. It's comming out really sweet! Thanks for the compliments!!

Look's very nice!! That fiberglass is just scares people from the thought that it is hard... and it is not!! Your Rat, is going to be a top 5, you know that don't you..???
Maybe one day I will be up there, but I doubt it...

Looks like it is coming along well. The only problem is once you hit the key, all the attention is drawn away from the visuals. I will have to drive over and see it soon. Right now, Debbies car has running issues, so I am working on getting the 3.4DOHC ready to go in. Till then, she is driving mine and that just sucks.

Wow... Looks REALLY good.. Hope you don't have any problems getting the gauges in place and wired, unless you plan to cut out the back, inwhich case, no problems at all...
but damn, yea, that looks sweet.

Well done chester! Do you plan on using indiglo lighting? In red(?), or some other color? Hey maybe you can utilize a Dakota digital set-up, in red. Shoot, with your new interior set up, and your entire car, will be a picture away from the front cover shot in Hot Rod magazine. Keep up motivated!
wow, great looking work, especially like the a-pillar. i have only one question though, to me it seems like a lot of work to do, when nobody's even gonna notice the difference until they reach for the handle. i mean it's not like you even see the handle to begin with? when i shave my car it's gonna be moulding and all. it is nice to see something different though i guess. just seems like a lot of work for very little difference

Damn! You are doing some great work there. A 4 gage pod! You are going to be the envy even of the master ricers Keep it coming and thanks for sharing .
Thought I'd post a few pics of the gauge pod in the car...Yes, I know the gauges are crooked...I didn't have the strength left today to twist them straight..

I was wondering about shaving the handles and possably the entire trim all the way around, its easier to get rid of than have to find new when i keep breaking them! how do the newer model cars attatch?? I dont understand why alot of the pieces cant be molded together, yes it will be harder to get off, but once its on, it shouldnt have to come off. (yeah like I actually believe that) at any rate. The body Pannels rely on more than just the mounting spots were the trim goes to secure, correct? so why dont you just not mount them there and instead where they are mounted at on the other location, we can just reinforce that area, so to speak. right???????????????

Well I don't about them being twisted but, I know it looks "wicked." Nice job. What are all (4) gauges for? Fuel mixture, temp, oil, and ?
From furthest to closest air/fuel mixture, water temp, oil pressure and voltage...I'm getting rid of the aux gauge cluster so I can mount my LCD panel there.
