I am looking at a mitre saw with a 8 1/4 inch blade. Of course, the blade is for cutting wood, as is the saw. Would this be suitable for cutting exhaust pipe? The pipe should be no more that 2 1/2 inch diameter. I know I will have to get a metal cutting blade. But, would it do the job. Or, is there a better way to cut angles on exhaust pipe.

spend the $$ for the correct blade, the wood cutting blade has too corse of teeth and will just melt them

Yes, the miter saw with an abrasive metal cutting blade will cut the exhaust tubing. As long as you have clearance on the table under the blade for the tubing. As a carpenter I have used the same set up to cut metal closet rod to size. You wouldn't want to do it this way often, though. Wear eye protection, you will need it.

I tried the hack saw, and miter box....just too much work. Plus the cuts were very inaccurate.
