It took a little investigation work, but I finally got a hold of the owner and here are some more details about the car.
1. The car was actually parked in a consignment used car lot. After many phone calls I finally caught up with the onwer whom is a car guy but doesn't know a whole lot about fieros. He owns several old Chevys and hot rods.
2. The car was sold at one of those car auctions about 2 years with a blown engine.
3. The new owner bought the car for $700 and built a new engine for it. Bare with me here cause I know nothing about mods but here are some details of the engine work. It's a 3.1 with new teflon coated pistons hyper-u-tech? that are for a 93 firebird or somthing like that. It has a speed-pro cam. Everything has been gone thru and profesionally rebuilt. The engine now has about 2,000 mile on it. He says that he has $1,100 into building the engine. He says that he used the stock exhaust.
4. The fiero is driveable as it is and can be driven on the highway. No overheating problems, headlights work. The Odometer shows 79,000 miles. It is an automatic with power windows but no power mirrors. I forgot to ask about air. He says that he has a shift kit for the transmision but it has not been installed yet. He says that it has a ton of power and runs without any problems.
edit, can't count very well
6. I am really not interested in this for myself. I like stock low mileage fieros, but am willing to help anyone that would like this car. WKAYL says that he might be able to transport the fiero if anyone is interested. He can post the details about costs to you.
7. If needed, I can take the 90 mile trip out there and take a ton of digital pics and test drive it. I am not interested in profiting from this car. I do not know the owner and all the prices listed above are what was told to me. All I ask is that if someone on the forum gets it, IS THAT THEY MAKE A SMALL DONATION TO PFF, and maybee a little GAS money for me to run out there and inspect it.
I am currently looking for a low mileage auto fiero 4 cyc coupe daily driver rust free fiero for my soon to be driving son.
If you give me a list of questions I will call the guy back and ask. He doesn't have e-mail and works late into the evening.

As Ross said, I "MAY" be able to haul this car to an interested party. If you are serious about buying the car, e-mail me for details on charges. Take into consideration I am 600 miles from this car. As an example of the rate, it would be around $550 to haul it to Minneapolis,MN. If you think the rate is too high, so be it. Just an offer for you to consider if you want this car and how bad you want it. Car could possibly be hauled sometime in December or early next year. Due to finding out today that my dad has a medical situation to be treated on Nov 18th, my plans may change day by day.

Not sure if your interested, but here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa there is a dealer with an 84 SE with only 38k on the clock. It looked to be in immacualte condition. He's asking $3495, but when my wife called and inquired about it and told him it was maybe worth $1500 max he said give me $2k and it's yours(oh yeah, he was prick about it also). It's a ways away but it is low miles. i can get pics if anyone is interested.

man i wish i could make a serious attempt at getting that in my flicted little collection. i'd like to know where it eventually goes. keep up with it or maybe convince him to put it on ebay or something. or make your best deal with him and auction it your self. add a couple hundred to what you have in it and make it the reserve price. i can't see you losing money on it.

The owner says it's ok for me to give out his number to people who are serious. If you are serious you can give the guy a call. If you just want to talk fieros, please don't call him.
The car is located in Dickinson ND. It's 100 miles west of Bismarck ND on I94. They are on Mountain time. It's best to call after 6pm on weedays and anytime on the weekend.
His name is Dan and the number is
( I removed his number cause a sale is pending) Ross 12/2/03
The above posts tells all that I know about the car. I may be able to gather more pics, but it would be a week before I can get out there.
If you purchase the car, please post here so that we know that it's sold.
Thanks
Ross

I think someone with $1500 should buy it and give PFF a triple digit donation, and a Benjiman to RossT to go back and take a lot of nice pics for the sale.
Is no one really seriously going to pick this thing up? He said it runs and is drivable and everything, right? Heck it's about 8 hours driving from the Mpls area! (I'd love the car myself but funds are a little tight right now, and I don't think I could get it "approved" ).

I am considering it. There were 2 other people who showed interest before I decided to call the owner. I am waiting so they have a chance 1st. As mentioned earlier, I have a trailer.

Just as an FYI. I knew a few were interested in this car. I waited until last evening to call him about the car. It is a 1985. He himself overhauled the engine. This may be good or bad. I overhaul engines for myself, but would never trust selling one to someone. Both front body panels have been cracked (said previous owner had too large of tires). The left rear panel has been cracked. He said he fiber glassed the cracks from the backside. The car does not have a cat. converter. He also said $1500 is bottom dollar. At this time I am not looking at getting this car. I was thinking of getting it, do some tweaking and then sell it.

Well, you're looking at the new owner of an IMSA Fiero. I"m going to sell my 86 SE on Ebay, and do as I suggested above. After it sells, a triple digit donation to Cliff and a generous tip for the guy who found it.
Thanks! Greg

I'd like to take you up on your offer, if you are still offering? I would like to have pics from all angles, engine pics (if you can have him meet you), interior, and a bunch of other shots that you would like to have if you were going to make a 17 hour road trip to buy it. I'll give you $50 of whatever Fiero I auction to take place of my daily driver if that sounds fair. I will also be donating to PFF $100+ depending on how much my car sells for on Ebay.
You can e-mail the photos or contact me at FieroGTguy@aol.com
Thanks! Greg

I love that body!! Ohh man would I buy that if I was working and still ahd money. Plus it is alittle over 1500 miles away and I dont think that the school would be very happy if i skipped class. Anyone want to loan me $2000? I would be able to go there, back and buy the car. plus pay a friend to go with me. J/K. I do like it!
Congrats, I've been interested in these widebody cars since they first became available. I've thought about ordering a kit when they become available again to install on my choptop, now that would be wild.

If all goes well Greg is the new owner of this beast!!
I am going out there this Satureday to test drive and take a ton of pics for him. I am doing this, without profiting, as payback for all the forum members who have helped me over the years.

Funny thing Ross... I just met the owner (PJ) of the Red 86SE that I looked at for you last year - he loves it
I'm really glad to hear that this thing is getting nabbed up - I'd love to have gone after it myself, but I just can't justify it right now. Congrats, and I'm looking forward to seeing some fresh photos of it!

Can anyone with an IMSA Fiero tell me what offset and/or brand of wheels to make it look right? I'm guessing 9"-11" rear wheels?
Thanks! Greg

It looks like I am putting my money where my mouth is. I had serious plans of keeping and transporting this, but I have found a sweet deal on an L67 locally that I need my funds back for. PFF will still get a triple digit donation after the sale, and RossT... WHat is your paypal address? I'd like to send you some funds for time and gas for checking out that car and taking awesome pics!
Btw, I downloaded the update to play the .mov videos you took, but they still won't play. Is there any trick you can do to get them to work?
