Sadly this is what happens when you try to buy a used car. I feel for you johnboy. This is why I dont like selling anything unless I have to. Heck I am still in contact with the guy that bought my V8 Fiero. And you know what? He got a hell of a price for what he bought plus he has me that replies to his needs pretty much within the hour of his emails. Thats support. 2farnorth bought the 59k motor from my project turd and you know what he got it dirt cheap plus I threw in extras. And replaced the valve cover gasket just because and removed a broken exhaust manifold bolt AND threw in the complete exhaust AND threw in the 4 wheel dolly that I had in my garage so he would be able to roll it around the garage till time to put it in AND showed video of the motor still in the car running and of the dash with the odometer and the oil pressure guage. I leave nothing to chance. For a 100 bucks. ANd he left happy. And you know I havent heard a bad word yet.
Thats selling. And knowing what your selling. Thats the biggest thing. Knowing what it is your selling. And sadly too it is on the buyer to know what he is purchasing.
Unfortunatly if neither knows what they are looking at things can and do go wrong like this.
I parted out a gold coupe last year that was purchased by my moms neighbor. He bought two. A gold one and a silver one. He contacted me for help as both had problems. He wanted to try to piece together one of the two. Well the silver one did not have any rear frame rails. No really it had none. So that was a waste. SO on to the gold one. He bought that one from a forum member. That one too never made it home under its own power. Got pulled over and the cop told him he refused to let the guy drive the car with severly dryrotted tires. Never mind the fact the car developed clutch problems to boot.(reason why he was pulled over.) So it was towed home the rest of the way. I got to bring it to my friends garage where I do all my work and just to get the car inspectable(Not including the clutch issue) and me doing all the labor for nothing was going to run the guy 1800 in parts alone. So he gave up and I got the cars that I promptly stripped and junked. And he had nothing. Sad isnt it?
Sad to say I DO see a trend. And I aint even involved.
Honestly the biggest thing is knowing the person your buying from and thier track record too. I have never made any profit from anything I have ever sold. Now thats sad. ANd heck I happen to have an 85 GT for sale anyone interested? LOL.
LOL
