I purchased an 85 SE in the fall of 1984 new off the show room floor. I still have it and I love it. This weekend a buddy and I went to GA (from Ohio) to pick up an Indy 4 speed. I have read the posts on this site for years and figured since I’m a proud Indy owner I had better join. I just want to tell everyone “thank you”. This forum was very helpful in assisting me in getting my Indy. I used the information here, to find out if this car was in fact a true Indy and what it is worth. I’m sure if I have any questions in the future I’ll get the correct answer. Thanks again.

The indy has 114k on it. The body is near perfect, the interior need a little work. I figure rebuild the engine, pull the seats get them redone and life will be good. The 85 SE has 34,000 and is a gem.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your latest purchase At some point, hopefully you can post some pics for the rest of us to drool over. We would love to see a few pics of both of them, but especially pics of the Indy And no I'm not biased
I do have a couple of questions: I have read many different facts about the Indy, I would really like to know the actual number of Indy’s made is it 1550 or 2000. Also how many 4 speeds was it 200 or ˝. And can you tell by the VIN number where it placed in the production.

Welcome! When I had my Indy (auto) members here on PFF told me there where 2000 Indys made. Its about a 50/50 split for auto vs manual. There is an Indy registry, let me see if I can find it.....
As for my Indy. It got t-boned and the frame was bent. But some parts live on in my F/B now!

Congrads hope you enjoy your Indy as much as me and my family have over the past years, how many miles do you have on the one you bought off the show room floor?

That's the way I understand it all Indy's had 4:10. What about the number made, 1550 or 2000.
Yes, from what I understand all the manual 84's that were made were 4 speeds with a 4:10 tranny. As for the number of actual Indy's produced, that is a question that can create quite a heated debate This printed article below would lead you to believe the lesser of the two numbers, though many on here will argue that this info is incorrect.
