When I got my IMSA Body, one of the big reasons I wanted it was because I figured I could put big wide tires on it. I mean after all it's wider..... right? ...... Wrong.
Have you ever noticed all of the IMSA's you've seen always look like the rear tires/wheels need to come out farther?
The problem I found is that the arc of the wheel wells on the body is a lot smaller/lower than a stock Fiero body.
Notice how the side trim on a regular Fiero is interrupted by the arc of the Fiero wheel opening.
Here is a picture of the IMSA I had..... notice how the wheel opening is smaller/lower than the stock Fiero. Also note that the IMSA kit has what's called a "Return" on the inside of the wheel well that contours back and meets up with the stock wheel well liner. So that the "Lip" of the wheel well that extends down below the original opening is 2" to 3" wide. So you can only bring the wheel/tire out anymore than they are on this IMSA.
To bring the wheel out to the lip of the wheel opening, you'd have to open up the wheel opening to clear the tire. Kinda like this...
I hope this helps
