This counter would show how much has been donated, compared to that of how much it takes to run PFF for the year, perhaps illustrated using two bar graphs. This would give everyone a good idea of just how much you have personally invested monetary wise per year. I think this will help PFF members better visualize just how much it will take to keep PFF running for years to come.

A goal achieved message would also be cool at every quarter, when the goal is met e.g. “¼ Goal Achieved

I’m have no idea how this would be achieved since I lack the programming knowledge, but think it wouldn’t be that difficult to do with so many multi-talented PFF patrons.

Just a friendly suggestion

The problem is that I do not know beforehand how much things are going to cost me. Not only does it depend on bandwidth, but upgrades/changes to the hardware as well. Plus that it's very hard to put a monetary value to the amount of work I put into this.

How about just picking a number that you think would be fairly accurate for bandwidth/hardware upgrades for the year? I think its a pretty good idea, it'd be nice to see how much PFF tends to donate as a whole as the year progresses, as well as seeing an approximate number as to how much it costs you to run the forum, and how much (or how little, my guess is probably how little) PFF members as a whole contribute compared to total cost.

Cliff: I won’t try to push the issue anymore. I know you have already put a lot of personal time into PFF. I feel like I have already asked for too much, but I just though it might help pick up a few more donations.

If you ever decide to do it however, I like what naskie18 said about “picking a number that you think would be fairly accurate.”

No offence to other members. But I think Cliff has done enough for us for the time being. This just sounds like something that will waste his time and cost him more money. I think its fine how it is right now. We dont need to know the details, we are just here to enjoy the forum.

that would easy to do and take 5 minutes at most.

Not to try to start one of our well known pissing contests, Ed, but what will that do? Does that make me a better member then you if I donate more then you? Or vice versa?
Maybe that kind of competition would be good for raising money, but I don't think it would be good for the forum.

I am glad to see that people are thinking about Cliff and the money it takes to keep this rolling, but I think having what amounts to a brag bar under our profiles would just create dissent.

Many things that are said result in pissing matches, but it would be interesting to see who contributes in which ways to this forum, how they act, and how they are received. There are many ways to contribute to PFF; through information, vehicle help, consoling people that post their personal issues vs telling them they deserve it, and by money.

If guys like WCapman or Will never gave a dime, I wouldn't think less of them, as they have poineered 5-speed N* conversions and extensively shared the info. But if some person that only posted in O/T and never chipped in with $$, and didn't even own a Fiero was to carry a high rating and slam people at free will I would know that he is a consumer/user and not a producer. Would it start wars or would I use it as an argument against any person? Naw. It would just reveal a little more history as to who is doing what to/for PFF.

Would it help to remind people they need to contribute to PFF? Sure. Come on conservatives out there, isn't peer presure part of the conservative protocol? I'm no where near the highest contributor of money, so it's not about that, but I do help people in TECH when I can, especially in regard to N* where I can help.
