I was thinking it would be easier to pull the WHOLE column and steering wheel for example from a Firebird to get a good column and a new steering wheel at the same time.

Well... Anyone know??

You could try using the Firebird column but from my observation, (I have one in my parts room) it appears to be about 6 to 8 inches too long. You could shorten it, but I don't have enough confidence in my welding skills to weld on something as critical as the steering column.

You might have more luck on the column from a smaller car like the Sunfire or Grand Am.

All GM/Saginaw columns that I have seen use the same basic mounting scheme, but I doubt any of them are bolt up replacements. But I haven't done a lot of research either.

There was a guy that used a column off an Alero and only had to move the brackets around a little. I don't know what other ones are close.
