Here is a example (my car) ......
87 GT, 5 speed, Silver, hardtop.
Ok, the facts (close enough) we have are........
- 46,581 = 1987 Fiero's
- 6,671 = 1987 Silver Fiero's
- 15,966 = 1987 Fiero GT's
So.......
"statisticaly speaking" the question is, how many of my cars were made and how many left?
Anybody really good with numbers?
Ok...... so here is my "guess'timate"
(try to follow me on this)
Out of 46,581 Fieros 6,671 were silver. And silver was the 3rd most popular (production) choice. (red met/20,264 blk/8402) So out of all the colors and 15,966 GT's there could have been roughly 2287 silver GT's produced. (% ratios of colors)
Now... in most cases I have read that there was about a 50/50 split for trannys. For arguement sake lets say that leaves me with 1144 silver GT's with a 5 speed.
Final tweak is the hardtop. I would have to say "most" GT's have sunroofs. I am a big fan of hardtops... always have been, and one of the favorite things I like about my car. Hardtops have always been the "rare-dog" in this era and often preferred by inthusists. (GN, T-Type, IROCZ, and so on) I think hardtops have a more sporty and serious look. Anyways...
Out of 1144 cars lets say at least 75% of them had sunroofs. That leaves me with 286.
So... out of 286 silver hardtop Fiero GT 5-speed cars produced in 1987 how many are left?
What do you think the % rate of loss would be over 15 years???
90%? 80%? 70%?
Fun huh?
hehehe
