i recived my mustang decklid scoop in the mail and unfortunatley it has about 4 diff, colors on it, and all of them have chips, and are in poor shapeexpecially the top coat it is fiberglass, and i am looking for a chemical stripper that will take it down to the original gel-coat, and not harm the fiberglass, is there any such thing? or should i just bust out the sand paper, and elboe-grease? any reccomendations?

i found that the chemical stripers don't work well i used something a while back but i cant remember it's name. sand paper works better in my oppion because you have a bit more control. don't used to heavy of a grit sand paper because you'll end up sanding twice as long.

You'd probably be best off sanding off the old paint. Start with 80 grit and as soon as you get through all of the old paint and hit the primer, then switch to 180 grit. Sand down to the gel coat, and then prime it and sand down again to make sure it's smooth. Then, prime it again and sand it smooth with 320 grit. When you are done with that, it's ready for paint.

Good luck!
