MY cars out of commission and ill be driving a 91 geo metro until im finished fixing it so i would like to hear from local owners , some of the engine swaps you've done so i could put something in other then the stock 2.8 since i would have liked to just have turbo'd it but with the engine a goner id much rather put something newer in.

Im currently doing a 3800 SC swap, and Rickady88 is doing a " short * " 3.5 swap.

There's 10 times the info that I can place in here off hte search option that will sat. your desire for the swap.

I will say that being that you are in CA, I hope that there is a plan to get around the smog nazis.

The easiest thing is either a 3.1 or 3.4. Cheap, easy.. and the best part is that it looks stock so you really don't have to even tell anyone and deal with the emissions people.

I put in the 3.4 and then later the TH440 (4 spd auto). The 3.4 is the easiest, but if you really want power and can afford it I'd say go for the 3800sc or the 4.9

there is an auto parts place on recycle road that has decent prices on the 3800 I believe, and will sell the harness with them. Recycle Road Auto Recyclers is the name I think.
