I checked it out tonight, it looks just like this from a few feet back.

With a new paint job, this would be a nice car.

Up close, it has a few scrapes here & there, the anntena was bent. The rear bumber had a few paint cracks. A bad paint scrape on the hood, black showing through. (2" wide x 3" long)

The engine gave a real small puff of smoke on start up. Sounded good w/ new muffler, louder than stock. 8)

Drove it w/ owner in the car, felt good, detected somthing a little loose in the front end, couldn't figure what it was. The owner was surprized when I menchond it. She didn't notice it.

It drove straight on the road. At speed the exhust gave off a nice sound. The cruise control works fine.

Under the hood, the engine was VERY dirty. Some elbow grease needed !! The black hood vents were faded.

Inside the usual panels that warp did. Someone added a glovebox, looked like crap. The headliner/visors are in really good shape. Crank windows. Had the cheap stock AM/FM only.

VIN 1GSPE1198JP201760

Has 09/87 on the tag

AAA CD4 D4P E9Z L44 N33 PDN U29 WV9 15B 66B 7RD

AD1 D34 D9C K34 MX1 PB4 UM6 V73 XEM 4OU 669 9UC
B34 D35 E52 K60 NA5 PHO U25 WS6 YLM 6RD

Has 10/13/87 written on the inner fender in yellow paint marker (also has DD 65)

Thanks !! She did tell me it was in calf, so that story holds up. It was her uncle's car, he died, she got the car.

Funny thing I never ran a Carfax on my 86. I just did and it tells me I have had it since 7/14/98 and it had 84,251 miles on it when I bought it and it now has 115,000 miles on it and I blew the engine so I am going to put another one in it.
It found noting wrong with it but the front fasia shows a little dammage where it has been fixed and the bottom of the fasia is hanging loose mostly on the right side where the dammage was and the airdam is missing so it has been hit sometime. now what kind of hit it took if it hit another car or of it was like when I lost control of it and hit a curb... All I did to it was knock some paint off on the right side. but the front fasia needs replaced and the light motors need replaced.
I also had goten some motors for the lights but they were off a 87 Fiero and wouldnt work with it so since I got the 88 I now have spare motors for it if they should ever fail.
I will eventualy get some new motors for my 86. I have plans to put in a switch that I can wink the right side light at all the pretty women, was a friends Idea but I liked it.

I had also ran a Carfax on my Friends T-bird but we knew what it was going to say.
it said warning Major dammage collision and Salvage title. He bougth it at Klode's auction www.klode.com wich they sell cars that were totaled in wrecks and were giving a salvage title. He bought his car there it was hit on the right front by a pickup traviling at a 90 deg so the frame was shifted to the left on the front the radaitor core support was crumpled wich he only straightned so visable dammage is still there. He replaced the front bumper right fender and hood and fixed the alighnmen. also he straightned the frame and he drives the car as his personal car now. We have been everywere with it and from the ride and I have drivin it and it holds the road like a new car. so even when a car has a Salvage title dosnt mean its a bad car.
all he has had to do with it is flush the tranny and put in a new filter in it.
and I think he has put about 40K miles on it since then. its been a really good car and I am thinking about going that route as it is alot cheaper to get a new car that way and still have a good resale value
