Well... it was just a 1/8 mile strip, but it was still a hell of a lot of fun. First time I've been on a dragstrip since I was a teenager.

Here's a couple of pics from two different runs.

My best ET was 10.131 @ 66.29 MPH.
Reaction time was .671 and 60' was 2.135.
My best reaction time (my 1st run) was .511.

This was with an automatic tranny, in "D", half tank of gas and my big azz (240#) in the driver's seat.

I'll post timeslips later. Have to clear the cobwebs off the scanner.

Comments? Suggestions?

Sounds great...I loved drag racing if for nothing else the all the car talk with all the gearheads at the track. Lots of fun.

How did you launch your Fiero? Understand it's an auto, but did you power-brake? At what RPM?

Held my foot on the brake... As the yellows started counting, I floored the gas... At the third yellow I side-stepped the brake.
Thought I would have red-lighted, but never did.

I'm sure there's room for improvement.

No more "Fiero Action" fotos, but Tammy took a few of some of the other racers.
May post them in O/T. Gotta resize them...They're huge!

Steve,Reaction times don't affect ET.You could have a 2 minute reaction time and your ET wouldn't change.Reaction time is the time it takes from a green light till you break the starting beam at the line.

Ronnie,
Yeah, it was Southeastern Dragway in Dallas.
I understand it used to be a 1/4 mile track, till the cars got so fast that there wasn't enough shutdown area.

Hugh,
Thanks. You're right. The guy who "encouraged" me to go (He's an avid drag racer. Has a '79 Fox-body Capri that runs 7's at the same track) told me the same thing. I just forgot. I'll "get it", one of these days.

Jncomutt,
Someone posted this a while back. http://www.geocities.com/allstangs/Page.htm

According to that chart, I prolly should be running around a 15.80 in the 1/4. I was hoping for better, but after watching how some of the cars were running last night, I realize that I'm probably not being realistic. Unless I choose to turbo or spray.

not bad for an auto though. I'd take a 15.8 for auto anyday.

Looks like a good time was had though, and that the point, right?

Shaun's 2.8 auto 85 GT without nitrous ran a 16.1 in the quarter. If that equates out to a 15.8 thats not all that great for a 3.4

Throw the jug on it

That 15.8 was just speculation, using the chart. Besides, that's still 3 tenths. All things being equal, how many horsepower do you need to add to gain 3 tenths?
What were Shaun's 1/8 times?

Jug? Naaah. I'll do a turbo first. Or a manual tranny.
More than likely, none of the above. I still have an idea for an intake.

Paul,
It's an F-body 3.4, through a 125 tranny.

Hoop,
Good luck with your TDC. I've been trying to keep up with your progress.
