Ok here's the deal, I know a guy who will sell me a supercharger that he got out of a buick Riviera for $50. The only thing is he doesn't know if it is a series I or II and the bearing thing where the pulley is will need to be replaced. He is bringing it to work tomorrow so that I can look at it, so is there any way that I can tell if it is a series I or II?? Also how expensive is it to replace the bearing thing? I kinda need this info tonight so if you could help me out that would be great Thanks for your help--Nathan

The Series I supercharger has a short snout. It is approximately 6 inches long. The Series II supercharger is considerably longer, at least 8 inches. For what it would cost for a new bearing, I would pass. That is a non-serviceable part and you must buy the entire "snout", not just the bearings.
Sorry Matt, Snout bearings are availiable on ebay in the supercharger section once and a while for a "buy it now" of $45.00 includes 8oz. of General Motors supercharger oil, you need 4oz. to fill it. You can also get the couplers for "buy it now" of $25.00.I got my series I supercharger from a guy at work who didn't know you had to check the oil and fried the snout bearings. You do need a press to change the bearings but if you are mechanicaly inclined it should'nt be a problem. I took my supercharger apart and cleaned the carbon off the rotors and will reassemble it with the new bearings.Check out ebay, $50.00 is cheap. Rebuilds start at $400.00 and go up to $1200.00, used running superchargers start at $100.00 for high milage ones. Parts are there, you just need to know where to look.
Thanks guys. I really appreciate your help with this. And I have not decided what to do with it yet but how much are they selling for these days? But even more importantly can I put this on my 2.8 Revin: How's the tranny? Ohh and I my be able to give you a run for your money in the near (well sort-of near) future Thanks Again amd any more comments on this subject would be appreciated--Nathan

Dragon1, I appologize. I was under the impression (from the dealer) that the Series I was not serviceable. I assumed that neither were after that. Thanks for the update.
Dealers do that cause they want your money. If it weren't for hot rodders like ourselves we would all be broke. The dealer charged my friend $1200 to install a used supercharger...
