Will a Borg-Warner 6 speed manual from a C5 (1997-present) fit in any way shape or form where the current Fiero's does? This is a someday question, so I'm just curious.

Corvettes are a rear wheel drive car. Ain't no way!! The tranny in question is setup for a front engine rear wheel drive vehicle.

PLus the new 97-present cars have a trans built to the rear differential as one piece. I think the T56 came in camaros and 1996 and older vettes.

Recipe for speed:
1 Northstar with 5spd
1 set of 18s

Vettes use the same trans case as the F-bodies, they just have different ends bolted to it.

Kinda thought it would be tuff cause it tranny's not transverse in the Vette setup, but I thought I'd throw it out there. Thanks.

By the way as long as I'm asking long shot questions is there any other American made/manufactured automatic transmissions that will fit comfortably in the Fiero? My ideal tranny would be a five speed auto if not a manual and I wondered if any were mass produced besides the one Porsche does.

in a year or 2 GM and Ford will be releasing a 6-speed automatic. Yes, This is a GM/Ford joint venture...and it will be the only joint venture

also DKOV is in the process of making 5 and 6 speed manual trannies (5 speed is stonger with better gearing than getrag)

THanks GTfiero1 - hey I hope you get your cat. converter figured out. I say that posting in the other forum.
Come to think of it I saw that GM/Ford 6 speed project a while back in Motor Trend - I hope they or the other trannies you mentioned will fit in the Fiero well. By that time I hope to be able to buy them - but for now mine remains stock except for a perfoemance PROM (I think), paint and a modified Cat. Converter.
