I have these tires on my daily driver 87 SE 4-cyl, 5-spd. Dominator Touring MR II Passenger/Performance Tire. P205-55-15s on 15-in GT grey rims (black walls facing out).
It has a treadwear rating of 560! Should last for a while.
edit: The 88 GT has GoodYear Eagle GT IIs - treadwear rating of 360. P205-60-15s of the front, and P215-60-15s on the rear (factory sizes).

Hands down the best tire you can get for a Fiero, in the stock 15" sized. IMO. Great handling, long treadwear, and phenominal wet weather traction. Cool looking directional tread, too.
If I'm buying stock sizes (205 and 215/60-15), the RE950 is the only tire I'll buy. I'm that sold on them.

I really like the Bridgestone Potenza RE-730's as well. I have 235/45/17 on the back of my Formula and up front have 215/45/17's. The rims are 17x7s. They are very cool tires and handle great. They hook great and are awesome for turning hard since my car handles quite well. I would recommend Potenza's any series to people. Good tire. They have one of the highest ratings on Tirerack.com and are about $150 for the rears and about $130 for the front. Not a bad price for what you get.
I have stock size 15" crap tires on there. They are also mismatched. There's Cooper cobra's all the way around exept for the passenger side, I have a cheep firestone. They came with the car and I don't want to change them yet cause I want to fit a set of GTA firebird wheels on there, but not sure how to yet.

I have relatively new BF Goodrich Touring T/As on the rear (they make a great sound when burning out) and Goodyear GTIIs on the front. I don't think they're original on a 72,000 mile car, but I guess that they're stock type.
PS WooHoo! 100 posts!

I have a set of new old stock Eagle GT+4's on my 18K mile GT. The original ones had hardened to the point of being scary to drive and I wanted original tires to replace them with. It took some doing, but I managed to locate some rears from a forum member and a set of fronts (believe it or not) from my local Goodyear dealer! It was the last set left in their warehouse, so I was lucky to get them when I did.
Anyways, my absolute favorite tire ever was the Bridgestone Potenze RE-71, but they were discontinued a few years ago. I believe that the Potenza 730 is it's successor, but I'm not positive.

Yokohama AVS intermediate Z rated 225 rears and V rated 205 in the front. We're talking duct tape style stick! (the suspension also has a little to do with that though )

Blue 87 GT-Spintech Exhaust, Modified DXR Intake, Addco Swaybars, Polyurethane, Autometer Gauges, Underdrive Pulleys, KYBS, Eibachs, and them sticky-ass Z-rated tires...
Bridgestone RE 730 on both Fiero's. Great traction in both wet and dry.
Yup. Great tire! If/when I upgrade to larger wheels, I'll be running either RE730's or Pole Positions S-03's. The RE730 is an awesome performance tire for the money. They just don't make anything close to the stock 15" size.

I am running Toyo 205-50-15's on 7 spoke Primax rims. Great cornering and still launch pretty well. Atleast enough to run a 14.3 quarter. Also out handles my buddies 1985 Corvette.

For the street, 205/60/14 Yokohama AS ES100 on Chrysler polished aftermarket rims
For the strip. I put BFG G-Force drag radials on stock rims on the rear (16psi) and Yomohama Avid Touring 185/75/14 on stock rims on the front pumped to 45psi.
I haven't decided what to run next year for autocrossing and road racing, I am trying to choose between Hoosier AS303 in a 14" size for autocrossing, or RS303 for road racing in a 16" size. (This year I ran little 195/60/14 tires in the old original 206 compound BFG R-1's on stock rims for both venues)

Pirelli Pzero Asymetrico in: 225/40/18 front 265/35/18 rear
Best dam tire I've ever owned. Sticks like a slick, and even great in the wet too (amazing.) I think I'm at 8k and only half worn! They're worth every penny three times over.
George: I'm also looking at those RS303s.
Wait, you're considering 16s?! what happened?! )
Best! Ben.

Yokohama AVS dB 205/60/15 front and 225/60/15 rear overall im very happy with these stick very well wet or dry. They are claimed an all season tire but i had to drive them on slushy roads once... very scarry I bought these about 2 months before the AVS ES100's were available or thats where i would have gone.
And on there right no are Yokohama guardex 600's in 185/70/14 GREAT tires for the snow. (and it takes no effort at all to light em up...)

For track (if I do more touring than ax next year) I will put the 829 revs-per-mile 16's on instead of the 876 revs-per that the 14's offer - - probably get another 5mph out of them on the longer straights.
But if I do more autocrossing, I will stick with the 14's. Corner better, and give a lot better acceleration out of a corner.
For that reason (faster acceleration) I will keep the 14's for the strip, also.

Pirelli Pzero Asymetrico in: 225/40/18 front 265/35/18 rear
Running Asymetrico both front and rear? Pirelli recommends the Directional PZero's for the front on mid-engine cars. Or would that only be for all-season driving? Here's their blurb from Tire Rack:
Directional Front-Asymmetrical Rear For high speed use in variable conditions of wet and dry. This configuration is particulatly suited to mid- or rear-engine cars, front engined or rear drive axle cars with up-rated wide section wheels and tires.
Asymmetric Front and Rear For high speed road and/or track use, where the requirement for dry surface performance may outweigh the demand for maximum resistance to hydroplaning in normal use. This configuration is well suited to cars with medium to narrow section front tires and is a must for front wheel drive cars and four wheel drive cars.
I guess for track useage the asymetrcial tires all the way around is good, but for the street, I'd probably run directional front tires. Have you tried them?

On my 88GT I have Kuhmo Ecsta Supra 712's all around. 215/45-17 in front, and 235/45-17 in the rear.
This summer I will be changing them to Kuhmo MX's. 225/45-17 in front and 245/40-17 in the rear.
My 87GT has Yokohama Guardex snow tires on it in the rear, and some sort of Pirelli snow tire in the front. 205/55-15 in the front and 215/60-15 in the rear. Quite possibly the best winter investment I've ever made.
Then on my spare set of Gold 88GT rims I have some worn out Bridgestone's (I don't remember which model but they are now doscontinued ) and the rears have Yokohama AVS DB's. 215/60-15 on the front and 225/60-15 on the rear. I'm debating buying some autocross slicks (Probably Kuhmo's, I like their stuff) or drag slicks for them. But that's if I have the money.
