Hi all,

I was hoping to get some "tips" on what you found during your install that was not covered in the instructions.

I have Archies kit. Great kit & instructions, 2nd video is even better than the first!

I would like to get input on anything that may make my FRIST V8 install perfect.

A/c issues? Cable routing. Parts to avoid. Solid mount the trans, etc???

John

Hi,
First off have fun doing the swap. It will go a lot easier. No matter how careful you are there WILL be bugs to work out. Another great tip, if you run into a problem call Archie, he is always willing to help. If you feel bad about bothering him post your question here. Archie's video has all the information you need. Just two things I would have liked to see in the video was more detail on a carbed setup and remotely mounting an electric water pump. Good luck with your swap and keep us updated.

1979 Chevy 350, bored 30 over.

Going to go with solid mounting the trans.

Carb set-up. Single plane Original torquer (sp) manifold (may need to cut the deck lid).

Sanderson headers, remote water pump, roller cam, alum heads, etc. About 450chp.

Converting to a 5spd from my 4spd.

Adding Archies radiator. Relocating batt w/ West Coast kit.

Do I need to keep/use the charcol canister?

If not, could I just plug the lines???

Thanks for the help.

John

Sooner or later I'll finish my V8 swap in the Formula. (Pro street's getting all the attention at this time) She's getting a 350 bored .040 over with a 400 crank (385 Stroker motor). Then, just for kicks I added the Holley SysteMax II kit which has 20 degree aluminum heads, Lunati cam, Street Dominator intake, blah blah blah. It should make around 550hp when finished.

Now, where did I plant that money tree??

If I'm lucky, I'll get to work on mine a whole 3 hours this week!

I have been working on this darn thing for over a year! I hope you have fewer "other" things going on in your life than I do.

Good luck.

P.S. Anybody have a copy of Archie's video I can see?

Yeah, here is a great tip! Make sure you make everything a quick disconnect so you don't have to sit and mess with it later cause your going to be removing it.

(Yes, I blew drive out of a built transmission again)

I see your still having trouble too. Mines gone If id have had to keep it, i was going to put built in hydraulic jacks, and wingnuts on cradle and trans bolts lol. My advice is if you do V8, forget autos.
