Well, I finally got some new rims for my car. They are 16x7 Axis touring cup rims. They came with 205/45/16 Toyo Proxis tires which still have some life left in them. When I got these wheel's I was planning on painting them black since I liked how the black crosslace rims looked on my car. Now after putting them on my car with their origional color I like it. I was wondering what everyone else thinks. Should I keep them white, or paint them black?
Oh, I also have the centercaps for them (red and white) which I put on today, but I dont have any pictures of that. Keep in mind I only paid $200 for all 4 rims with tires, and yes, they do have a little curb rash. But thats nothing that cant be touched up if they are kept white! Let me know what you think!

What a deal.. I am hoping for a deal like that sometime soon... I think they are pretty sharp. I think you should paint them to match your Fiero. RED! That would be slick. But, what do I know...
ahhhh, i get it so that's why your getting rid of the black ones! I like them better white. totally black rims looks like you never bother to clean them, but that's just my opinion. by the way did you get that MO yet. probably not with labor day and all, but anyways congrats on the new rims!

At first I didn't like the white much. I dunno, maybe the clashing brightness of the white and the easier-on-the-eyes red just made the wheels shout out at me, but after a little bit, they look alright.
I don't think black would look very good, though. picturing it in my head, if it were a gloss black, or even a flat black, I think it wouldn't look right.
Personally, I think a gunmetal color might look neat, kinda like a gloss version of fieromadman's photoshopped image.
I say they look good, but only cause it's a notchie.... that white fastback would look pretty slick with em.... but yeah, I think they'd be better black. only because of the trim, though, two tones of paint to an exterior are fine for me, for Me I say. I still think it works for you.... again, Good looks, and a great deal, can't beat that.
hehehe *gets the urge to scream, can't afford a good fastback yet*

Black would be too much, would look like your driving on 4 spare tires from a distance. A light Silver would look best, you get the initial reaction to the light color to red contrast but it's not quite as abrupt as white. Gunmetal would be my next suggestion.
Overall love the car looks very nice. The hood vent is cool too. Where did you get the idea to do that? Don't think I've seen one like that before.

The hood vent idea came I think from the orange car in the top banner. It used to belong to a forum member by the name of 1FST2M6 but from what I've heard he sold his Fiero and got out of Fiero's all together a while back. Here's a pic of the car:

Personally I like the white on red but I think it's not the same with the trim black, I think if the trim were painted red to match the rest of the car the white rims would look totally phat. I've never been a fan of black rims mainly for the reason someone above said, because from a distance it looks like you're driving on 4 spare tires. I like when rims grab peoples attention, like with white or chrome rims. Silver rims can also look good but just aren't as noticeable as white or chrome. Gunmetal rims are ok because they're lighter than black so they don't look like spare tires but I still prefer something lighter.
To make a long story short I say keep the white but consider painting the trim red or maybe even white like JaeiSun has done on his tealish fastback with white rims
of course a pic of his white rim+trim combo

I like them, but they need to go on the Fastback....whatever you do, don't paint them black......
I know you weren't the first person to say this but I don't think the fastback belongs to him. If I'm not mistaken the fastback belongs to StansGT, am I right?

I agree with wpgFiero. Color key the black trim. Even with the hood vent consider two broad white Lemans stripes running from front to back. The car would have a real "competition" look to it.

I think it looks pretty good how it is. They do stand out quite a bit, but so does the car. Painting the molding red to match the car might help, plus I think that looks good on 87/88 coupes anyway. Just remember, if you paint the wheels, it most likely won't be as durable, as most wheels are power coated. Silver would be a good color if you did paint them.

You are correct. The fastback belongs to Stan and the coupe belongs to Fieromaster88.
Personally i don't like it when the molding is painted the same color as the car. A little contrast breaks the car up a little where as when it's all one color it just loses something. Just my opinion though. I didn't think i'd like the white on the red car at first but now that i see them on the car, as i stated above, they really look good. Plus, they definitely grab peoples attention i bet even when they're moving. Definitely looking forward to seeing them this weekend!

Yep, as Dave said, the White Fiero is StansGT's and the red Fiero is mine. Thanks for the comments people! I know the white rims arent for everyone, but the more they are on there the more I like it. They look a lot better with the centercaps, because they are white with red, and the red matches my car pretty good. If someone could photoshop my car with some of their ideas (such as moulding painted the color of the car) it would help me out some.
The first thing I noticed was the contrast between the white wheels and the black tires and wheelwheels, giving the illusion you have humongous wheelwell openings. But if it's between black and white, go with white. Black wheels look great six feet away, otherwise they disappear into the wheelwheel itself. Silver would also look sharp. Just depends if you want them to stand out or blend.

If you end up re-painting wheels you HAVE TO do them in Yellow!
Black seems to cheapen the wheels, works the best only on an all black car.
Gunmetal would look good. Here's an idea, go with a medium silver with a slightly darker silver in and around the spokes to make the spokes stand out, look larger in dia and give the rim a deeper look. Maybe I can photochop what I'm seeing along with a Yellow version.

I did some quick photoshopping, it's pretty bad but it gives you an idea of what it would look like. Remember, very crappy job the white trim one literally took me less than 30 seconds It seemed easier to get rid of the black trim than to make it red so thats what I did and I also made one with white trim. Here ya go
