Was it under your name for the title? What about insurance? Full coverage, or PLPD? If it has full coverage you can buy a new indy, and part out the old one, if it's PLPD make your mom pay for the car, if she won't, Sue Her. My parents were threatning to take away the cars that were UNDER my own name (i.e having a wrecker take them to the junk yard) I told them that if they did, I would sue them for the blue book value for theft.

First of all, if it's full coverage, chances are that they're going to give him blue book value for the Indy...which isn't much to begin with, minus any deductible he'd have. Then, if he wanted to part out the Indy, he'd have to buy it back...which takes even MORE of his settlement out of the equation. Chances are, he wouldn't have much left to buy a new Indy with. The only way he'd come out smelling like a rose is if he had "agreed value", which he doesn't...he only has PLPD, whatever that is...it must be like "liability only" here in Nebraska.
Sue his parents? What kind of hairbrained advice is that? If you were MY kid, and you threatened to sue me, first thing I'd do is throw your sorry @ss out on the street, and then I'd slap a mechanic's lien for unpaid storage on each vehicle you had sitting on MY property. You got money for the lawyer's fees? Bring on your lawyer...you're going to pay dearly.
There's nothing personal in what I've posted above...it's just that too many teenagers think that they can get away with crap by threatening to sue, or to call the cops and claim abuse. My kid did that once...I threw the phone at him, and told him to call...but if he did, I'd make sure that there were valid reasons for his call. Needless to say, he didn't call.
Your parents gave birth to you and raised you without asking for much in return...and then you want to turn around and sue them.
Sheesh...
Sorry to hear about your car, 88220gt...I hope you and your mom are able to work something out.

I would only do that, if they got rid of the Cars, that were TITLED under my own name, they have no legal right. And my dad can't take my id away again cause I have a different password now that he doesn't know, I've agreed to not swear, so I won't.

Like I said above...there's nothing personal here, 1985FieroGT. I just want you to realize that you're not thinking this thing through before throwing out the "sue" card so easily.

Actually, he WOULD have a legal right, if you wanted to push the issue. If they were parked on HIS property, he could claim they were being stored there, and that you hadn't paid any storage fees. All he has to do is file a lien on them for the storage fees, and if you don't pay his fees, after filing the appropriate papers and waiting a certain period of time, he can legally claim and sell them, or have them hauled away to the junkyard. See...you haven't thought this out fully.
It's easy to yell "sue"...it's another to be able to do it successfully, let alone AFFORD to do it, if you're not working a full time job for more than minimum wage. Yes, there's always small claims court...but in my experience, the court usually has little power to enforce the ruling it hands down.
I've seen TOO many kids cause MANY headaches because they spoke before they thought. A friend that I worked with just lost his job due to a kid that did just that. Once the authorities were involved, the kid lied his head off to save his own butt. Even the cops knew this kid was lying, but there was nothing they could do to help my friend, and he lost his job. See how speaking BEFORE thinking can ruin someone's life? This guy has 4 young children at home that he has to find another way to support now...just because some kid lied about what had truly happened.
I know, this isn't exactly the situation that we're talking about here. But like I said...it's real easy to yell "sue"...just know what you're really getting into before you jump...

PLEASE PLEASE GO GET YOUR INDY CAR BEFORE THE TOW BILL IS TOO EXPENSIVE!!! even if its totalled, You can part out the interior for a decent chunk of change!
what part of the car was hit? front rear or sides?
matthew
BTW where do you live? maybe i can help find a replacement, I just picked up a 87 coupe 5 speed that may do the trick.
If my mother wrecked my car, I think she'd probably feel bad about it and pay to have it fixed. My father on the other hand would probably just shrug and say "whoops" or "told you those cars are crap"
BUT the important thing is she's OK, you can worry about the car later.
Even if the car has been destroyed, the value of the Indy parts alone may be able to buy another Fiero, if not another Indy.
