Would a cherry bomb turbo muffler work good with a Fiero? or would they be too loud. Mind you I'd eventually have headers and no cat, on a 2.8 v6 with perfromance chip and probably other things.

well.. my Q4 dumps right from the header into an 18" cherry bomb, into a straight tip. Way too loud. With a resonated tip it was almost bearable... V6 would probably be a little quieter, though.

Cherry bomb with cat may be acceptable. I used it instead of a cat whith no muffler and resonated tips. It was barely acceptable loud. But I was so happy when I installed the stock muffler back. But the that's too quiet...

I had a double cherry bomb setup with two resonators. I had a pipe bent so it came about the middle of the truck and then a muffler and resonator each side. It was a little 'boomy' at highway speeds but overall nice sounding.

Don't feel alone - I don't know what a "cherry bomb" is either.

Cherry bomb - fat pipe with fiberglass filling (usually painted red) cheap and loud.

Man you guys are rice if you like the sound of a V-6 or a 4 banger with a cherry bomb.
If you want to hear something that sounds good you should here my Chevy Pickup.... it atleast still has the Catylic converter to make it a little quieter then full straight pipes. But it still sounds really good. CAUSE ITS A V-8

I think he was referring to the cherry bomb "turbo II" muffler. It is like a regular OEM muffler, but a little less restrictive and a different sound. I have one on my '85 duke right now for temporary purposes. It is sounds a little louder than stock, and a little more mellow. I don't know how it would sound on the 2.8 though. I had one on one of my other 2.9 Rangers I had, didn't sound bad for a $15 muff. Have fun mounting it on the stock Fiero pipes. The local shops (T.O.M.S. included) would not do a custom system for me. They kept trying to order a stock system from Walker until I walked out. As soon as I can lay my hands on some 2" pipe, I am bending my own system using a friend's hydraulic bender.

Jess, I know this probably wouldn't be a really good idea, but at meijer's they have these bendable 2" pipes, that are of course cheap, but at least you can bend them to route the exhaust without a problem.

on my 85 2.5 i have no cat with a flowtech terminator muffler with a boom tube tip its really loud im thinking either im going to get a resonater tip or put in a chery bomb in the spot where the converters supposed to be

Chris

.... a cherry bomb on a stock exhaust on a 2.5 will make no difference in the sound ... nother really

A cherry bomb turbo muffler would sound nice, a cherry bomb glass pack might get a little to loud, but thats up to ur opinion, i would rather have a deeper tone then the higher tone like with a glass pack

...I already have it. I have it mocked up (that is why I mentioned temporary earlier) as I want it. Now I just need the "normal" stuff.

I tried the red C.B. glasspack on before I went to the turbo II, sounded like crap. Take a car (Fiero or other) and cut the pipe all the way through just in front of the muffler, and that is what it sounded like with the glasspack.

and you forgot one thing... well maybe.

They may seem unrestricted but really are not. The best muffler to use is a large diameter pipe "reverse flow".

This information comes from an earlier time but I do not know what the "latest" technology in "cherry bomb" mufflers holds.

I had a standard "bullet" Cherry Bomb put on my '84SE and it sounds very mellow. Of course, the engine went south before the glass even had a chance to start blowing out.

I have the Cherry Bombs on my 85 GT V8 Carbed 350. The car sounds awesome with a deep loud roar with the twin 4" round tips. I cranked the car once without the tips before the final install and it sounded like crap. It is unreal how the twin tips make the sound split 50/50 through each side and make the exhaust come out in a spinning motion.
