While I was trying to figure out another problem ( https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/039623.html ), I finally got around to installing Rodney's Low Temp Radiator Fan 185* Switch ($24) and his Stant 180* thermostat ($11) I bought from him at the 20th show.

Tools I used were a 3/8 drive ratchet with a 6" extension and a 21mm deep socket; pliers; and 2 flat head screwdrivers.

Here is a shot of the location of the thermostat to be changed and radiator temp switch (it can't be seen in the pic, but it is about 2 inches behind and then down about 3 inches from the thermostat cap), of course it is not easy to get at.

Here is a shot of the stock thermostat after the cap was removed.

Here is a shot of the hose I had to unclamp (with the pliers) to get down to the fan switch. You can also see the wiring harness in upper left that went to the fan switch. Naturally you have to press on both sides of the fan switch coupler to get it to release. I used the screwdrivers for that.

Here is a shot of the ratchet in action taking out the fan switch.

Lastly, here is a shot of the stock fan switch after it came out (left) compared to the new switch (right) before it went it.

It took this mechanically challenged FieroFanatic about 10 minutes to install both (I am quite proud that I was able to do it myself - a first for me).

I did start it up and looked at the temp gauge and saw it was working (a good sign, I hope), but I haven't drove it yet due to the lack of a resolution of my temp light problem (hopefully it won't take long to receive the sending unit I ordered). Once I do that install, I will take it on a test drive. My fingers will be crossed when I do.

Frist off, welcome to the fourm!

Now, you have touched on a nerve!

I wish that more members do a pictorial of their tasks/projects!!!!

I enjoy a detailed description of the procidure, but we like the photos to complete the visual.

I may not speak for others here, but this is my 2 cents.

Thank you for the "shots", we should all do the same to assist tohers in their Fiero Quest!

John

Nice going Juice. Now you will be able to give a demo of your work at the next C.O.F.E. meeting.
