Since we have alot of Newbie's the last 6 month's I thought it was time for another decision from the member's about "Smooth GT"....
ALOT of decision's about "Smooth GT" have come from these very member's here!
My decision will be decided based on the suggestion's of the Member's of PFF.

What decision is left for "Smooth GT"...??

That's right...
Now pick one... Photoshopped examples ARE welcome...

A deeeeep blue would look really nice, with tons of flake. My brother painted his car Dodge Viper blue and it looks great.

Also, how confident are you on your bondo work. That may help.

The title and keys in my hand and the car in my garage! I'd think that'll look pretty cool.

I've always thought it would look great in a rich-metallic blue or metallic orange (like the new 350Z's have).

(btw: we need a really good, fresh photo to do any photoshop magic with )

I have been lingering in this forum over the past 3 years and I have read just about everything and anything that is going to be done on this ghost of a car (well, we do have three or four re-occuring pictures). I would just like to see some updated/new pictures of this car. (Does it even have an interior???)

Don't read this the wrong way, but I am beginning to wonder if it even exists...

Regards,

Ayrow

Smooth is far too original for a single color. I think you need a two tone, like red body and maybe a white nose. Like it's heating up because it's moving so fast.

...as a matter of fact, I'd recommend going with this color scheme overall (I like the way the dark/gold wheels look with the paint).

Doh! LMAO I had to try at least... guess I'll have to find another "old" pic and see what we can do with it!

LOL, I'm surprised you haven't been releasing "spy" photos like the magazines do (covering the "secrects" with plastic and duct tape).

I agree with Rob (MinnGreenGT) that colour, with the darker matching hue on the wheels, is striking enough for this car. I'd steer away from wild multicolour schemes, the details of the car supply enough "visual interest", you need a good solid colour to show them off. When you mentioned white in an earlier post I didn't really like the idea, The white notchback with the hood vent, Archie style rocker scoops and the IMSA spoiler (sorry I forgot your name, forgive me please) looks great in white but I think it would be less effective on you car.

Just one opinion.

Ira

I agree wholeheartedly that the copper/gold color scheme is striking!

Strikingly ugly! Sure you want to turn heads, but you don't want those heads to say 'holy crap that's sweet but a lot of pennies must have died for that car.'

I vote for a deep metallic blue or the brightest, cleanest white you can find.

Smooth, are you planning on doing a custom interior?

if you are, go with a deep metallic Scoro Blue with a cream white interior

Ken's doing a lambo in that and its gonna make my pants the interior color...

If you want to show off all the scoops, vents, and curves I recommend a bright color to contrast with the natural shadows. Yellow jumps to mind. White is too plain unless you add a contrasting color for accent.

My next choice would be Dodge Viper Red. That color just makes a car look fast sitting still.

Black is classic but you bodywork needs to be perfect.

Honda has a real nice color blue, not too dark, not too light, lots of metallic. I saw a Cobra painted that color and just loved it. But I think it looks best with white accent stripes. or bright silver trim (like 86/87 GTs).

In my opinion, if you go too wild with the color, or too unusual, it'll take away from all the wild modifications you've done. The best way to attract attention is bright colors and flashy wheels.

I think the photo shop approach is a really good idea. Using that tool, we know what Skitime's car would look like painted blue .

I'll be interested in seeing the color you choose,

Roy

I'm so used to seeing it in grey I can't imagine it any other color

I'd say the 350Z Copper, or ferrari yellow.

Dude,
the ebay guy sells a stage one paint. once on it will be a pian to fix runs, etc.
Sure it is cheap. I even thought about it, but I was told that it would be good for the underside of the hood. Look for basecoat/clear coat paint.
I would also tend to shy away from the met.flakes since this is your first time painting. even the pros have trouble getting the flakes to look right. but try it if you want. I have been known to be wrong.

metflake isn't that bad in the 1 stage paint for a first timer - i recommend spraying a base coat of it onto the panels with them off the cra - then putting them on and doing a top coat to get the flake all flowing the same way and more even - pick up a clearcoat to go on last for a double deep look

and that teal is looking mighty nice
