First sorry for the length, but please bear with me.

I have a delimma, because I believe I need to unload one of my three running Fieros. My 84 SE, 85 GT, or my 86 SE.

The GT is out, I just rebuilt it and want to keep it.

I really like and want to keep the 86. Because it is a Gold 4-speed 2.8L V6, granted it needs some work, but nothing major.

Yet the 84 SE is a great runner, and was a driver for a while, but I swapped the dry rotted wheels from my GT to the 84 so I could put my 85 on the road.

The 84 SE is a Paint Dead Red 4.10 4-speed. Has Factory Radio w/ cassette, PW, PL, PM, tinted, headlights work, approx 100k, recent front shocks, has had some major engine work, but short of a rebuild (K&N filter, new coil, new wires, plugs, gaskets, sensors) and has a non-working A/C.

However, it needs struts and tires to make it a good sellable automobile. But if I put money into tires, struts and alignment, is it worth my money?

I mean, let's be quite frank, most people don't want to purchase a car that they have to dump another 400-500 to get street worthy.

I really don't want to sell the 84 SE, but if I do sell it I would prefer that it go to someone who appreciates Fieros.

I'm so confused, because I really hesitate to let any of them go. IMO, if I put new tires, struts and get an alignment, even with a non-working A/C I really don't want to sell it for less than 1200. What do you guys think? Am I crazy?

------------------

Beautiful, Dinged, Darnered, or Bruised every Fiero turns my head.

Drivers
84 SE 4.10 4-Speed
85 GT Automatic
86 SE V6 4-Speed

Parts Cars
84 SE Automatic
87 SC 4-cyl 5-Speed

Are we ever really finished with our Fiero projects?

Done it three time in the last 6 months. Two Fieros (in sig) and one Beretta GTZ. The GTZ was supposed to be the motor for my '86, but was in too good of condition to part. Paid $250 for the whole car (rod knock) and have more than $500 into the motor so far.

You could put them up for sale as is and see if they sell.

If you expect the unexpected, was it really even UNexpected in the first place?

'85 SE, 2.5, 5spd
'86 SE, 2.8, auto (waiting for red85gt to make a Ford smallblock to Fiero slushbox adapter)

'02 Yamaha R6, blue/white, 4000 miles, LIGHT scratches on some pastics, for sale. Will accept Fiero(s) and/or parts as PARTIAL trade.

Smooth, you're so very right, and it is part of my problem.

I like the 84 because it was the first year, even with all the problems and uniqueness of 84 systems I like it.

The 85 was the first GT, and a notch at that.

The 86 mid production, not worth much, but still Gold, v6, and 4-speed all worthy in my opinion.

Revin, thanks for the laugh. Give? Hmmm? Oh, maybe in exchange for some dinero

jlhuber, forgive me here, but I think you are the opposite of most people, hince why you own Fieros, and are willing to buy them in unfashionable shape. But you are right, there are some people who see the possibility and not the problems.

I just bought a running 2.5/5sp 85 SE for $500 knowing that the rear clip had to be replaced. Of course AFTER I got it home I also found that most of the other body panels are damaged in some way too but that is my stupidity not blaming the seller. The point is, since I am building a 550hp (on the bottle) SBC for it, and knowing that I was going to be spending a lot of time and money on it, $500 was worth it to me to have the car (that runs so I can move it around in and out of the shop while I build the engine and get the money together to do the swap) WITH a TITLE! Fact is, from what Ihave seen, just about any running car with a title is worth at least $500 (at least around my neck of the woods).
Anyone who knows Fieros also knows that swapping body panels on these cars is a piece of cake compaired to just about any other car. If your car is straight and runs half way decent and you have a clear title for it, you should get around $1000 for it the way it sits.

JUST my $0.02 (USD) LOL

geezzz i don't think there were too many used cars that i didn't have to put money into.. i think that the key here is too be honest about what the car that you deceide to sell and that will let them know what is needed instead of them thinking you ripped them off, and i'm sure someone will buy it "as is"
