Ok, so every wednesday when I head out towards Reading I see this pretty nice 86GT at a hair cutters. I had stopped a few times to look at it but I never had enough time to go in the place and ask who the owner is, and if it's for sale. Well, I had the time today so I went in and asked. To my good fortune, it is forsale! So here's the specs, and you tell me what its worth.
1986 Fiero GT black 4 speed 105k-110k miles (i cant remember exactly) great paint good tires pwr windows pwr locks good interior normal AM/FM cassette radio no sunroof spoiler pwr trunk release rear window defogger missing 2 wheel caps other 2 are in bad shape has a a bra for the front it caught fire but there was no structural or cosmetic damage has new rear brakes tilt wheel(i think) intermittent wipers the owner smokes in the car
That's all I can think of off the top of my head. If you have anymore questions just ask me. The lady who owns it wants $3500.
Lemme know. Any and all input would be great.
Steve

With the high miles, engine fire, does she know what caused it? I would also check under the bra and see if there any damage under it. It sounds like it was repainted if the paint is in great shape. I'm sure it was driven in the winter so I would check the corners of the trunk for rust. I would give her $2000 maybe $2500 but not anymore then that.

thanks. she said that it wasnt an engine fire, but she said that the rear brakes froze and got really hot when she was driving or something and they caught on fire and it damaged a very small part of the engine. she said that she had a whole new rear end put on it. not the body panels, but i think maybe brakes and stuff. the body panels are fine, i looked them over and theres nothing wrong with them.
my dad and i will be going out on wednesday to drive it, ill will check the front and the trunk. ill also check the side rails. like i said, she wants 3500, but ill offer her 2500 and we'l see where it goes from there.

I wouldn't give over $2500 for it....100K+ miles, fire damage, smoked in, stock radio? Thats a lot of drawbacks. I'd also pull the bra off to look at the nose, make sure there's no damage hiding underneath, I know some people just like the looks of a bra, but some people put 'em on there to cover up cosmetic damage, so I'd be sure and take a look at that before making an offer. If it runs real strong and the bra isn't hiding anything I might give $2500 for it. Good luck
well just give u a clue I paid 1k for mine its an 87 se had bout 115k paint is alright but could be touched up real solid frame sunroof no auto features but thats how i like it lighter weight so i think i got a deal maybe some other people could tell you what they paid shape etc to give u an idea

Just for comparison, I bought an 86GT with 144K miles on it a few years ago and paid $1750 for it. The owner wanted $2500.
A couple years later, I bought an 87 GT with 114K miles on it in fair condition for $1600. If you ask me, the ladies request is a little high. Maybe she really doesn't want to sell it.

she told me that she has to get rid of it because when she bought it, it was only her, and now she has 2 big dogs. so she definatly does.
it was also in the shop about 2 months ago and it had $1000 of work done to it. im sure that made her raise the price. i blue booked it and it came up at $1890, i think i will show her that before i make an offer.

I just bought a cherry black 88GT with 67000 original miles, sunroof, everything works including A/C, nice paint and good tires, for $3300. I'd offer her $1500 and tell her to hurry B4 u change your mind Go to autotrader.com and put in your zip code to find out what similar cars are selling for in your area. DON"T GET ANXIOUS - you might buy yourself a load of trouble.

She wants way too much...ecspecially being smoked in-and the amount of miles. Offer what you think it's worth-I would offer $2000 and no more. If she doesn't take it, walk...there are plenty more fieros out there waiting for you-you'll find a better one for less if you're patient.

These guys are right. The only cars I've owned in my entire life have been fieros. I've had 3, and I have 2 now. The most recent was to replace one that was totalled (by driving under a Chevy Blazer).
Anyway, my point is that when I was looking for its replacement, I found an 87 GT that was pretty beat up cosmetically. I offered cash on the spot anyway, and my offer was declined because there was someone else who drove it first, and the seller wanted to give him a chance to offer. I said "Sure. Your loss." and left.
I was all set to go home, but figured I'd check one more car while I was out there. It was $2k more than I wanted to spend, but it was an 88 GT, and it was cherry.
I got a call from the first seller later that day saying the guy didn't want it, and it was mine. I said thanks, but it was too late.
Granted, I realize the point of your post here is you don't want to pay too much, but I just wanted to reenforce what everyone else is saying about not rushing. Good things come to those who wait. Great things happen to those who laugh at a ridiculous offer, and walk away. =)
