(also in tech, maybe more looks here though)

Ok, I'm sure this is an easy one, but I don't know it. When I turn the key, all I get is a click from the rear. I smacked the started a bunch, its not sticking. I jumped the terminals, it spun. I put the car to 'ON' jumped the terminals, and it fired right up.

Why won't it start with the key???

Yeah my car did that too. One time I couldn't get it started, I turned on my lights and nothing would happen. I would turn the key and the starter would wanna turn but it wouldn't engage. So I wound up leaving the car at a freinds house till the next day so I could get my tow truck to pick it up. Came back the next day and the lights were popped up like it wanted to start. They told me it was the fuses all along the wires had shorten out. So I got me some heavy gauge wire, cut out the fuses, slapped a piece of wire in where the fuses were and haven't had a problem since.

On automatics over time the switch in the shifter area that tells it when it is in park will get bad, and can give you trouble. Shift it back into park with some authority (but not hard enough to break anything) and then try again.
On manuals that usually isn't the case, as it could be a bad ignition switch on the column.
Just a few past experiences.

Well.. its not the fuses, checked them. It didn't do this in the other car either. Also, the motor in this car didn't do it. I pulled the engine out, put into this car, now it does it.. Hmm...

If you have a engine harness from an automatic and the car was a manual or vise versa the pin that starts the car on the C500 connector will be different and cause what you describe. Any chance of this?

My car did the exact same thing last week. I found out it wasn't the starter clicking, it was that little black box by the cruise control with wire's runing to it. When ever I turned the key to crank that thing would click. On my car the problem was the switch on the clutch pedle. Try unplugging the switch on the clutch and jumping the two wires together and then it will start if thats the problem.

Jelly and I were thinking about this and think it is either a bad connection on the solenoid, bad selenoid, or bad starter. Test it in that order. The rest of the wiring on the car must be right.
