Does anyone happen to know if it is at all possible to track which 200 Fiero Pacers did a parade lap at the 500?

I have never heard mentioned if the VIN #s were recorded from these cars, or if the fact taht a car was a parade lap car was advertised with the car when it was sold.

According to my sources,
Pontiac produced 3 Pace cars for the race.
140 replicas free of charge for use by Drivers, Officials, the press and VIPS.
Plus another dozen or so as contest give-a-ways.......
Then the factory produced 2000 replicas for general sales....
Page 71 "The Fiero" by Gary Witzenburg.
Also the Pontiac official press release guide lists nothing in this respect.

Hey Fiero Monkey , not positive but I've read that the actual number of '84 Indy cars made was around 1550 not 2000 . This is just what I've read on a few occasions , so take it with a grain of salt .

So how many Indy's to you have now ?

If I read this right, I don't think he is looking for Indy Pace car production numbers. I think he is trying to find out if of the 200 or so (or as was posted by Fieroharry - 140) that were made available at the track back on May 27th 1984 for drivers, officials and so on, how many of those actually ran a few laps on the track and if so were those VIN numbers recorded?

Did I read that right Fieromonkey?

I bet 1 of them is in the museum of industry in Chicago. It had the scoop lights over the roof, and the cool rims. I found my picture of it, but it is really bad. The flash didn't fire.

Yes, im sure someone, somewhere made a list of these 200 pace cars that performed the parade lap. Boom has the plate from car #120, that leaves 199 more plates floating around someplace, and perhaps the info on the cars themselves.

Boom, name your price for that plate if are willing to part with it. I would LOVE to have that for ont of my Indy's
