Putting TPI on a pre 87 motor is a PITA. You will forever have troubles geting the intake to seal and there is no knock sensor and no O2 sensors yada yada. If you want a cheap engine look for a 305 out of a 89 or 90 caprice old body style with the one piece headlight. Why? well it has the correct heads, has every sensor you will need for TPI. ROLLER CAM

and cheap to rebuild. I bought one for 120 bucks spent 230 for parts to rebuild and its been running strong for 3 years now. They come TBI so it is ALOT easier to do. That is what I plan on doing to my 305 in the future good luck

BTW you can buy edlebroch alum intakes to run a Q- Jet on a TBI or TPI motor. I bet they have the same air flow 750cfm is what I have on mine
