Occationally, I'll spend my lunch hour touring the local U-Pull-It yard to see if there is anything interesting. Since tomorrow is a holiday I did my tour today just in case there was something I had to have. Here is a list of some interesting finds:

4 Fieros (1 - 86 GT stripped but still had motor and 4-speed), 2 - SE models one w/ 2.8 4-speed, one with duke/auto, 1 84 auto) Nothing I needed.

1 - 92 Deville w/ 4.9 complete except for the PS pump.

1 - 90 Deville w/ 4.5 missing throttle body

1 - 92 3800 w/ 114k miles. Hit left front (so it was running when wrecked)

1 - 95 Camaro w/ 3.4 long block. Intake already gone. Wrecked car (so, again, it was running when wrecked)

1 - 92 Bonneville SSEI w/ 3800 SC motor. Blower was missing but the rest of the motor is still there.

Cophers list the prices on the motors as:
$59.99 Short block
$99.99 Long block
$149.99 Complete motor.

And

I counted no less than 4 cars with V6 front wheel drive Getrag 5-speeds. 5 if the 2.3 4-cyl car used them. $35.99 ea

For those nearby, the yard is called Gopher Brother U-Pull-It and it's in Tampa, Fl. Core charges apply to EVERYTHING.

I may as well list what's in my area yards also since I like to keep track of 'em.... Everything's pretty well picked over by the way.

Yard A has one '87 4-cyl. coupe, had a V6 not too long ago.
Yard B has one '84 or '85 coupe 4-cyl.
Yard C has one SE V6, pretty well stripped, crushed a coupe recently.
Yard D has 4 Fiero's, 3 with the 4-cyl. All are stripped and have been there forever.
Yard E has one '84 or '85 coupe 4-cyl.
Yard F has 10 Fiero's, one an '86 GT and all the rest 4-cyl's. All pretty well stripped.
Yard G has one 4-cyl. coupe, buried in the mud.
Yards H and J have no Fiero's.

I guess its scary I can remember this stuff.

88 Fiero GT 90K miles
91 Beretta 300K miles on Apr. 17 - woohoo!

I did get a Dodge Shadow spoiler for $15 tho
I also noticed a couple of newer Camaro dashes there too...
You've got me thinking now (oh oh...)

BTW, I examined Roy's Firebird dash conversion last week for the first time. I really looked it over and all I can say is

SUPERB workmanship
very "factory"

I was amazed how just the dash swap totally changed the character of the car.

So Cleary got them? I'm still looking for a rounded left front. I may have to talk to him.

I went to my local junk yard, and this is a true junk yard, but they no longer let folks out on the lot. The only guy working said it was because they have police impound cars back there, even though they have a fenced in area behind the business for them. They've also spray painted NO ADMITTANCE around the yard. I was told they didn't have any Fiero's, and that seems to be the way it is around here. Fiero's seem to be drying up in my area.

THe junk yards around here suck, they all think that fieros are rare cars so they charge an arm and a leg for parts.
