After seeing the pictures that forum member 88GTNeverfinished posted of his tail lights, I decided to try the same to my notchy lights.

The main difference is that the outer lens is lightly factory tinted, not clear. Also I used a very shiny reflective black fabric, instead of plain satin black.

Please ignore the dirt, paint, and sagging bumper cover. All are spring projects to fix. .

Before:

After:

Zoomed in on previous pic:

Lights On:
I had the parking lights and left blinker on so you could see both levels of brightness.

Closeup sitting on my kitchen counter:

It was difficult to photograph these because of the reflectiveness of the lens and the fabric, but I think it looks good in person.

Many thanks to 88GTNeverfinished for his idea. I hope he doesn't mind me borrowing it.

I was curious about this project on the last posted thread with the later GT style lights. I was thinking about doing it myself, but I was thinking there might be a problem with the fabric..a lot of fabrics like to fade and rot in time, turning to a sort of brown or purple color, ecspecially with exposure to sunlight. I guess that's not too big of a deal if you don't mind replacing the fabric every so often, but I wouldn't really want to mess with that, but I'm sure there are some fabrics that are stronger and withstand the ubuse better...what kind of fabric did you use???

The steps are virtually the same as from this thread: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/027536.html
The only main difference is that the colored lenses don't quite strech the fabric enough, I had to do a little precise tugging and taping to get a few wrinkles out. But that may have had more to do with my fabric being a little wrinkled to start with.

On the receit it says "BLK/SILVER TISS LAME". Got it from Jo-ann's. Other than that I wouldn't know what to call it.

As far as "my4cats"... I had that as a license plate on my last Fiero and decided to use it as a domain too. Yes I do have 4 of em...

That looks great! But I have seen this spray on tint that looks black but when you turn on youre lights it sines through like stock. Not supposed to affect the light quality. Check out a summit catalog it is in the back called night shade or something like that. I wouldent use fabric because absorbs water and water=rust!!

do you ever see water inside your taillights? Because if you do fix yours because they arent installed properly. Plus plastic lenses dont usually rust anyway if the thinly streached fabric should somehow get ahold of water

I ment that eventually it might wreck the reflective coating in the lenses. Also I live in canada where water gets in everything no matter what its a fact.

I just got mine done. THEY LOOK GREAT!! So much beter in person.

I also Used UV resistant black see through cloth and gutter guard.

Worked great, just remember to SEAL the lights back up after your done.

PS I also found a HUGE rats nest behind my tail lights.

When I finished mine it was dusk out and they looked fine. But in the daylight they are too dim. I will also have to find a more see thru fabric. I would feel kinda funny about buying pantyhose though... LOL
