For those of you who have put lowering springs on, how is the ride quality? Did the ride become more harsh than the stock springs? Also, is there a difference between the Eibach springs and the cheaper Suspension Techniques?

Ah, I've had two 86SE's with each (ST and Eibach) and the same shocks. Here's what I found:

The ST's drop the car about .5" more than the Eibach's but the Eibach's have a better ride. Eibach dropped was about 1.5", ST about 2".

Both are noticeably firmer than stock with the ST's being a bit too hard at times on rough roads (I care about ride quality). I think the Eibach's are a better spring for ride.

With the Eibach's, you will likely need to use the stock jack to get the car up enough to get a floor jack under it. With the ST's you will definitely need the stock jack.

If money is an issue, the ST's are good enough that I wouldn't shy away from them but I admit that since I had the Eibach car to compare, I removed the ST springs and put the stock springs back in and sold the springs.

I was able to get the front end aligned with both springs using Moog adjustable ball joints in the front.

Handling seemed to be about the same. I can't say that in everyday driving there was any real difference. Maybe at the limits there is. Both cars have the Addco rear bar.

Finally, both will fall out of the perch in the rear so when you jack up the car, make sure the spring is positioned before you lower it.

With Eibachs:

on one of my old se's(86 V6) we used ws6 in front and stock in back and cut them, about 2-1/4 drop, then just Zip tied them to the perch rode about as close to stock as anything, it was a little bouncy in the front, but you wouldnt notice it if you wernt looking for it that my friend IS the biggest bang fot the buck

now on my current project i have WCF 2" drop springs in the front and coil-overs in the rear 400lbs/Inch all arround Can you say FIRM ( i DONT care too much about ride quality, this car is gonna be built to PREFORM ) my WCF stuff isint installed yet, waiting till spring

if you think ST are TOO firm you better just save your $$ and cut the stock ones IMO

I understand, we're just talking something civil. I prefer civil. I can't drive the Fiero like a racer car all day.

see now i dont understand this . there is a kid here in my area that used the eibach springs. he says his car rides like a skate board. i used the st springs a couple of weeks ago and they are stiffer than stock but they dont seem that bad . the springs that came off my car seemed pretty damn new. and as far as price i shoped around and i found there was only a $10 difference between the two sets of springs. i will have pics soon hopefully tommorow

I have the Intrax springs on my car along with poly bushings. All I can say is low, stiff and noisy.

But I LOVE it!

BTW, if you get poly... GREASE THE HELL OUT OF THEM! Or else they get noisy after a while.

Just my observation. I had the luck of owning two identical 86SE's, one with Eibachs and one with ST's. A friend with an 85GT drove both and came to the same conclusion although he liked the lower look of the ST springs.

Take it for what it's worth. As I said, I wouldn't shy away from the ST's.
