Some before and after shots of the two vehicles that were totaled by the stolen car.
BEFORE: 1984 Fiero SE, Auto, 78K

AFTER:

Actually this one runs fine still, just needs a hood, windshield and rear bumper ... maybe a trunk. Towing company is holding it hostage thinking I'm going to pay them to tow a car away from an accident that I was not responsible for, nor did I call them to tow it.

BEFORE: 1985 SE. 5-Spd. 62K

AFTER:

Doesn't that amount to theft?

Wow. At least you weren't in them when it happened.

It is theft. Call the cops and have them arrested. They can't tow them without your permission, and since they were on your property anyway, they shouldn't have towed them period.

The police ordered the tow, I live in the city and we have to park on the street. The police are trying to help me get my personal belongings back from the car, the towing company would not allow me to get my things out of the car ... nor did they allow me to take the tags of of the vehicles
So when I found my replacement Fiero I had to buy another set of tags / Since no insurance company is paying for the accident the towing company thinks it can get the money out of me. towing was 150.00 per vehicle, 25.00 per vehicle daily storage, 35.00 per vehicle to clean up the street (I think their present bill is near 700.00) and the accident was just last thursday. Had I not been in shock at the time, I could have had the vehicles towed to my lot where I work at Manheim Auto Auction and also towed free by the Auction .. but the police wanted the accident site cleaned up right away probably
since the accident involved a police chase through Lancaster city at speeds in excess of 85mph.

Best Regards go out to you.

What a load of **** , call the news.
Someone should fix your cars, if the Police were chasing the ass that did that then file a complaint.

Why not do what everyone seems to be doing nowadays? Sue the town and the police. They shouldn't have been speeding thru town like that, and risk the loss of life and property of the citizens. Then just settle to get whatever parts or cars you want back for free. It might work.

I am sorry to see your fieros in such a state..

I'm with the flock on this one, get the media involved. Give them a story about your rights being violated and how its sad that you pay insurance yet no one will pay for your loss. It wanst your fault the fieros were lost. Usually political officials and police departments do not like media attention and will do something to help clear their names.

Do you have a lawyer yet?

Yep I have a lawyer he is the former DA in Lancaster.
Today: The mayor called the police chief and had him call the towing company about getting back my personal belongings ... well
the Towing company called me said I could have them and the tags but not car parts ...I hit the roof, there were a few items I wanted the woodgrain radio and gage covers and the sun visors and a few of the black plastic lug covers -- he relented when
he saw how mad I was getting at not being able to get parts off of my own car ... but alas I have to sign over the title to him so
as he says "he can get rid of them" RIGHT
he will probably rebuild the one from the parts of the other and resell them

I doubt it will do any good but I emailed WGAL TV today and asked if they might look into your situation. It sure would make a interesting story for them. Time will tell.

Thanks Skitime . I have tried just about every thing I know of. Many of the people on my block still have to take a bus to work so in many ways even if I had 2 cars totaled I'm still lucky ... lucky also that
I found a replacement so quickly ,,even though it's just not the same I guess you could compare it to collecting vets and having to settle for one that the numbers don't match and has a salvage title ... the feeling is there but it's just not quite right > Well I just hope no one hits this one I probably would go balistic ... I must admit I do like the color Blue though and it will make a good daily driver, I noticed
after cleaning it up that it was in an accident before / door seperation is a little different between the drivers and pass. side and if you look close you can see
where a crack was repaired under the pass. side sail panel - unlike my other two vehicles which were owned and loved by Fiero
nuts over the years and averaged about 2000 miles a year according to their carfax print outs.

so, the tow yard wants you to give them the title, so they can get rid of the cars? The car still belongs to you. You dont have to give up any title. you didnt break any laws, So you shouldnt have to give away or lose your property. Im just shocked. Sorry about your loss, I hope you an recover some of it.

I don't hold the police responsible except for the towing part - The police were only doing their job the other option is to have them wave at the car thieves while they are eating donuts at the corner stop sign, it is a damned if you do and a damned if you don't situation for them. The Towing company
well there just like ambulance chasers, 150.00 per vehicle to tow but if your car breaks down and you call them it's 45.00 ...
sounds a bit like price gauging to me.
And the 19 year old who stole the Toyota and wrecked it into 6 vehicles - totaling them all, will probably get 3 months in jail, if any time and have to pay 50.00 a month to 5 or 6 people for their loss amounting to the victims not being reimbursed within their lifetime. The insurance companies seem to have a loop hole
out of everything, comprehensive insurance on a 10 year old car or older can be expensive if they even grant you it in the first place after making appointments to have the car photographed and submitted for
insurance coverage approval so liability
coverage seemed the most logical (until there actually is an accident where you need
the insurance companies help)
