Does anyone have an aftermarket or OEM rear view mirror with compass, temperature and maplights??

I've seen them on numerous GM cars, but don't know if they are adaptable to the Fiero.

I have one out of a 2001 Chev Silverado. The windshield mount is different than the Fiero, but it will hold. I used telephone wire to do the wiring in the headliner and door pillar. There is a hole in the support below the radiator to mount the temp sensor.

I just installed a mirror with map lamps (no compass) that I bought off ebay for $12. It was plug and play. Of course I had to splice the wires together but they were the same color and everything.

Did you just have to run wires from the temp sensor and the map lights, or was there another wire as well?

I just sold one of the map light mirrors on eBay.. I started to put it in my GT but I already have lights up there on the console anyway... I also have an auto-dimming mirror that I may put in it. I really want one with the compass/temp too though. Just haven't come across one yet.

The mirror I used did not have map lights. If I remember correctly, I needed 5 wires to hook it up (that is why I used the phone wire. I needed 1-batt power, 2-ign. power, 3-ground, 4&5-sensor wiring. Also a 6th wire is used for the correct installation, for a backup wire to cancel the auto dimming feature when in reverse.

I never thought about the ignition wiring. You wouldn't happen to know the part number for your mirror, would you?

Thanks,
Nick

Just thought that I would mention that you can buy these things new from Summit but they are quite pricey.

Make sure you get the ones with the map lights. Because the factory map lights are what, three inches away? Cant have too many map lights. Right?

I picked up mine at a salvage yard for $100.00 so I don't have a part number.

It would be cool to get an Onstar kit and throw it into a Fiero...I wonder if anyone in the aftermarket provides an Onstar type service?
