I was talking to a friend about a tiberon with front and rear mounted v6's. Now i know this is complete fantasy but would it be atleast possible to hook up a front and mid engined fiero with dual 350s? I hear money can do anything but what are the limits of these ideas.
ahh.. imagine it. an AWD Twin 350 sbc fiero

I've never been a fan of dual engined setup. Double the engines does NOT mean double the power. It does however mean double the weight, which would kill a Fiero. Of course its possible but there's a whole lot of framework (probably a frame stretch as well) needed to be done in order to have a transverse mounted engine/tranny in the font (as well as in back). Plus transmission linkages to control both trannies. You'd need alot of modding (and money) which isn't worthwhile for what you get. But it is possible...

How do you figure?? Maybe not twice as fast, but twice as much power, yes.

Hugh has an AWD Chevelle with two big V8s.

i think it would be cool but could really only be used as a show car. Gas miledge would suck and ability to control its would be tough (think Hurst Hairy Olds)

That twin-engined Tiburon runs 10's, IIRC, and each engine only puts out 300 or so HP.

Mosler Automotive makes a twin engined Cadillac Eldorado called the Twinstar. AWD, 600hp, supposedly can do close to 200mph. I want one.
Here's a pic of the rear engine...

That Caddy does haul ass. Have a friend who works at Mosler, does some design work for them. Gotta love it when your job gives you a Mosler MT900 as a company car

Some of the fastest cars are twin-engined. Suzuki's Escudo Pike's Peak, Corvette XP882 (Twin 2 rotor engines), 1965 Hot Wheel's 1:1 Twin Mill (Twin blown Chevy 502s) and others.

The trick is to find a potent, yet lightweight engine to pull this off with. The first one that comes to mind for me, is the Super Duty engine. With aluminum head and aluminum intake, I hear it weighs just about 300 lbs assembled. That's pretty light considering you can get 300-350 BHP out of it with some work. The power output outweighs the sheer weight of the engines.

Shifting linkage would be fun, but Chevy managed to pull it off in the 50s/60s with the CERV II concept, powering the wheels with two Powerglide 2-spd manuals.

Why does the thought of a two engine setup bring about the awful thought of a lift kit, mud tires, rebel flag in the rear window, and a raccoon tail hanging from the antenna? Anybody?

Where did I see that concept car from Calif. that had two 350s or something in it? Speed channel maybe? It was a futuristic looking two seater from the early 70's and was also a Matchbox car too. Seems it had some hairy handling problems.

Hey Blue, you wishing you had bid on the jacked-up, 4wd Fiero on Ebay 4-5 mos. ago?

Well how many 1,400+ RWHP cars do you know of that can do anything but a straight line?

The one your speaking of is the Hot Wheels 1965 Twin Mill, powered by two Chevy 502 Big Block V8s, two 8-71 Mooneyham blowers, and four Edelbrock carburetors. Making in excess of 1,400 RWHP.

Only recently did this car become a reality, but if I remember correctly, the Twin Mill was Hot Wheels very first die-cast collectible car. The funny thing is, this toy influenced some big car makers. Chevrolet three years later had their Corvettes looking like the Twin Mill. Four years after the Twin Mill, Dodge revealed the 1969 Charger III concept which was nearly identical to the Twin Mill, but the Charger III never was released, way too futuristic for the public, had a canopy system instead of doors, and had no rear window either. It did have air-assisted brake system though, where flaps at the rear of the car sprung out, similar to the way Knight Rider's KITT did, at certain speeds when the brake pedal was pressed.

Where I live, I could put it to use! I might even know someone wih a gun rack to put in the back window. Does anybody have pics of that car? I vaguely remember the ad, but it's been so long ago that I don't remember what it looked like.

Hmm...I can't help but wonder if it would make a nice background picture... Nah.
