Have any of you guys thought about lifting your Fiero? Making the equivalant of a Baja Bug out of your Fiero? Im going to be moving back to MO soon and Im going to have to drive my Fiero in all seasons. We all know they suck in the snow in stock form, Im getting too old to crawl in and out of it so I was throwing around the idea of having some fun with it. PISA has that "Jalepino" kit for it, but I dont really car for the looks of that kit but the general lift/wheel/tire combo might not be too bad with just the stock body. *I tenatively hit the "Submit New Topic" button*

Yeah.... i'm gonna have to uhh kinda disagree with you on that " - Lumbergh, Office Space
Actually... the fiero really isn't that bad in the snow. I drive mine all winter. As long as you realize that the car's limits for handling and acceleration are much lower due to the snow, you should be fine. I put 100 lbs of sand where the spare tire goes to help keep the steering wheels down, but other than that, it does pretty well in the snow.

get a cheao 6-cyl Fiero, take all the body panels off, cut out some useless steel from it, through in a couple of racing buckets, take out the carpet, side windows and rear window, put some bigger rims with nobby tires on it and have fun, instant sandrail

I've been pondering building one for about a year now. I have a 85 2m4 that is going to be the guinea pig. It all came from last winter when I put 205-70-14 snow tires on the back and 195-75-14s on the front. We took that thing through anything. We were out playing in a good 2 feet of snow with no problems. This brought some ideas to me as well as a few buddies of mine. We were going to start constructing the beast this summer but the engine decided to not be friendly. So now it sits waiting outside of our shop for me to get around to it. It dieing has allowed alot more thinking to go into the project. Things like rollcage placement exaust and the cooling system. Power is more then likely going to be a quad 4. But it's going to have to keep on waiting a few years until collage starts to pay off. Oh as for the body, we are not planning on having much of one left. Lots of weight savings without it.

i guess what bothers me the most bout this fiero is it looks like the bastard child of a pontiac fiero and a jeep!!! but what disturbs me even more they made the fiero into a off road monster... yet they put high performance wheels on it.... thats some meaty thread on there

I don't know how many of you follow the Dakar rally, but I always thought that the Shlesser buggy, and the new VW entry remind me a bit of an off road fiero. They are mid engined, rear wheel drive after all...
Anyone seen the new Porsche Cayenne, immediatly made me think of the jalopena (LOL)!
Looks nothing like the fiero kit but the name just cries out for comparison! Notice the front end, pure porshe.
A 4.5-liter V8 engine rated at 340 horsepower (DIN) and 310 pound-feet of torque will power the Cayenne S. It will accelerate from a standing start to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.2 seconds on its way to a top test-track speed of 150 mph (242 km/h).
The Cayenne Turbo will be powered by a twin-turbocharged version of the 4.5-liter V8. The boosted engine will provide an incredible 450 horsepower (DIN) and 460 pound-feet of torque. The Cayenne Turbo will accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in only 5.6 seconds and can achieve a top test-track speed of 165 mph (266 km/h).
The Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo will feature a new six-speed Tiptronic® S automatic transmission as standard equipment.

One day, I will buy an 84' for the sole purpose of making a Jalapeno. Carbed 4.9 and some big honkin' tires!

I've seen a couple commercials. That thing is ugly! Why oh why did porsche have to make an SUV!? Surely the more exotic car companies won't do the same.

Lamborghini already did. Behold, the mighty LM002, powered by a Countach V12!
I'd take that baby over a Cayenne any day.

Somebody mentioned the Dakar Rally, that's more along the lines of what Im thinking. More so then the Fiero on a Blazer frame idea anyway. At least no ones threatened to tar and feather me yet, I was'nt sure what kind of response this thread would get. Guess Im not the only one who's thought of this though.

Actually the Fiero should make a quite capable offroader. Fully independent suspension, great weight distribution, everything that makes it a good road handling car lends itself to rally type racing on or off road. If I had money to blow, I'd have a pepper car in my stable. I won't go into my offroad adventures back in 84 in a brand new fiero but let's just say they tend to bottom out easily in stock trim.
