is there a code on the car somewhere? i know my '87 convertibe had been wrecked somewhere in it's past and repainted. i saw a bit of blue in a crack and now i'm wondering if it was a used blue panel used during repair of if the car was blue originally. i don't plan to repaint it blue if so, but it'd be interesting to know if it was. thanks.

Phil, the paint code should be on the RPO code label, if I recall right. It's located on the driver's side inner wheelwell, under the hood. There are several code lists on the net, but I don't know the location of them right offhand. If your RPO label is MIA, you can contact Pontiac Historical Services...for a fee, they can send you a copy of the information on your car. It's not TOO expensive, if I recall right.

ok, the code list is there (i think, assuming it is). do i have to find a list and match up all the codes till i find it or are paint codes different in some way (like start with a certain # or letter) so i could eliminate some?

I think the paint codes are toward the bottom of the list? I'm not completely sure; I haven't owned one in a while.

Phil, the paint code is usually at the bottom of the RPO sticker and it's 4 numbers instead of 3 like the RPOs.
It'll be something like
WA-4555

Hope that helps, if you need me to get a pic of one I'll see what I can do.

Jeff
