It was a manual, pretty sure a 4spd but not a clue as to which gear ratio.
But i have another question for the man in the spotlight. I thought you said you blew the clutch when you ran 12.6something... was that actually the tranny or did you replace the clutch?

Guess I should read the forum more often. Yes I did have the clutch spin out after my 12.6 runs. I continued to drive it after that without problems. Didn't take it to the track anymore. I was planning on parking the car the next week anyway so I thought I would take it to the track. First run, first gear and bang, the differential explodes. Both differential pinion gears shattered, wedged between the case and carrier and blew the case apart. It was a four speed manual with 3.65 gears. So now for next spring I will be running a SPEC clutch with another four speed. Hopefully that will last another year. I had an extra transmission already, (knew it would happen eventually), so now I need to find another. ICY
Speaking of questions from other threads, 'X, what type of pushrods did you use with your regrind? Your web page mentions longer pushrods but no source. Did Erson supply those as well? Were they custom or off the shelf? My regrind will be here tomorrow or Monday, so I'll be dealing with that issue very soon. Thanks!

I bought the Smith Bros, 7.100" .083" wall pushrods. They are freaking beefy. They are 1 piece chromoly pushrods, no welded balls to break off or anything, and they cost $6.04 each. What regrind specs did you go with? Who did it? Visit www.pushrods.net for the smith bros.
Hey'X, thanks for the tip. My specs, roughly, are 206int 218 exh with .311 lobe lift (.498 gross). I'll be sticking with stock heads for next season, but once this engine is up and running, I'll probably go to work on fully prepped heads and add 1.7 rockers for more lift. The idea is to stay conservative with the cam. I've noticed that people tend to go with too much cam. According to ZZP, this profile is good for a 6500rpm redline with peak power at around 6000. Cam was re-ground by Colt Cams in BC Canada.

Id definately recommend going with the 7.100 pushrods then. I have a little valvetrain clatter at idle with mine, so one of these days I plan to machine the base of my rocker pedestals .020 to compensate for it. Yours should be dead on the money, because Erson recommended going with a pushrod in the 7.115-7.120 range, but they didnt have anything that precise. Yours should be dead on the money at 7.100.
Bonus. Thanks again for the lead. I had visions of spending hours searching through boxes of spare pushrods to find the right pieces. Colt removed just under .060 from the base circle.
