FieroX, you're welcome here anytime. I'm planning to come through with it on the way to the RRR if fate should make that doable, and I'm working on fate as I type. 8-)

You're welcome to come up here anytime. Beer's in the shop fridge and the hoist is waiting. You need to take a weeks vacation and we'll get your secret project done. 8-)

If Amir and the guys get anything solid on the KS Fiero club or the Pontiac get together down there, I'll for sure make that. Even though I'll have to steal the car from my son to do it. But that's OK, I'm keeping a set of keys. 8-)

Sqoach- Dunlop 215/45ZR17 mounted on Sport Edition Fox 5 Wheels 17X7.5

Ed (Fino)- Thanks for the compliments. I'd take you up on the offer of helping use the ammo, but my Kimber Stainless target seems to eat it just fine. That might be enough to get me to October, if I skip a weekend punching holes in paper.

I really don't mind constructive criticism. MinnGreens thoughts on the blacked out tail lights, MrFixit's ideas on vinyl to black it out and see how we like it, even Grinthock who said he didn't like the lights because he liked the ones in the kit better. That's cool. I've just seen too many posts in other threads where people jump in and blast somebody's hard work with no explanation. Curious how most of the time they have just a few posts and you rarely see the work they do. It just rubbed me the wrong way.

But if old Krash showed up at the shop tomorrow, I'd hand him a beer and shoot the Sh** with him for as long as we wanted. I don't hold grudges or get really mad at anybody anymore. Life's just too short.

Your car will be done soon. Time flies when you're having fun. 8-) So tell the truth, when it went to the paint shop, did you have any fingerprints left? Mine were all sanded off.......

Well, here's one I found. I thought it was kind of funny. When the body shop ran it in the paint booth it had on seats so he put his little creeper chair in it to sit on.

I don't really have anything new to put up yet. The trunk piece has taken a lot more time than I expected,(so what's new there) and of course all the other little details are time eaters.

If I get the trunk filler in yet tonight, I'll post some pictures later on.

Man John that looks awesome. I hope you can bring it to Ark City for the Pontiac get together in early October. Let me know in PM what the deal is because I have to see it!

Well, we got the interior painted and cleaned and in yesterday and today. It looks like everything will be ready to go for pinstriping on Thursday as planned. Here are some pics of the new interior.

And another one, a little more detail

The color is a little lighter than original on the light tan, but not a whole lot and since all the plastic needed redone, we used it.

Tomorrow it goes on the lift for the air box ductine and inner fender liners and to finish up the exhaust.

The interior was the least expensive part of the deal. $50 worth of vinyl paint. Mr. Mikes seat covers, saddle and visors, $35 worth or headliner material, which we also used to cover the rear area that has that fabric or horsehair or whatever the heck that stuff used to be. 8-)

We also covered the inside of the doors, firewall, and B pillar (inside) with Dynamat so that cost a little more money.

Today we worked on the air inlet for the engine air intake. We started by making a couple of brackets with the pieces for the Scat tubing and mounted them.
We have a plastic piece that will seal off the back, top, and most of the bottom.

It won't be a pressure tight seal, but the goal is to deliver cooler air than what's in the engine compartment to the air intake.

Here's a picture of the front end with the driving lights mounted and the front grill material installed.

The picture doesn't show the material very well, so here's a closer view. It's aluminum, 3/4" oval, from McMaster-Carr. I have enough to do about 3 or 4 more if I mess this one up.

are you eventually gonna get a new dash to go with the awsome new look or just gonna stick with the stock one?

Adam,

In this car, probably stick with the stock one and a set of the EL gauges or maybe send a cluster off to Dakota Digital to let them do their thing on. First we just want to get it finished up and enjoy it for awhile. 8-)

The maiden voyage of the good ship Finale was today. I had to take it about 35 miles to have it pinstriped and finish the exhaust.

We have the interior done and pretty much everything finished up except some tiny details.

I got to the muffler shop about 8:15 and the car sat in front of the shop for about 10 minutes while the tech rolled out the car that was on the lift. We took it inside and it's so low we had to push it on the lift by hand and the rockers still scraped slightly so it was half in and half out of the shop for another 5 minutes or so. Just started showing him how I wanted it done and a guy comes in with a tie and no jacket.

"is that based on a Fiero?"
"yeah, we just got it done"
"looks nice, I like the color"
"thanks, we like it"
"what tail lights are those, 97/98 bonneville?"
"yeah, you have a good eye"
"I kind of have to know my cars.."
"you a salesman from the dealership across the street?"
"yep, and I better get back to work before they miss me.."

Got done there and left the shop, went to get some gas. Everywhere I went "what is that?"

Went to Sonic and got a burger for lunch. When the carhop brought it out she told me how much and I paid her. Then she said:

"OK, what's the story?"
"Story about what?"
"The car, what is it?"
I laughed and said "why?"
"Because I bet the guys inside $20 it was a Fiero rebody and they said I was full of shi$$".
"Well honey, go back in and get your $20, you win. How'd you know?"
"I've owned 4 of them, the last one an '88 GT that my ex-boyfriend wrecked."

I think she'd have done pretty much anything for a ride, but I'm married and I was hungry.
Your priorities change as you get old. 8-)

Don't take the Finale anywhere and expect to get in and out quick without answering a lot of questions.

John Stricker

PS: We're cleaning it up good and polishing it tomorrow. I'll try to take some pictures and post them under a new thread tomorrow night. How many pictures you folks want? I don't want to bore you.......

Damn, I was going to PM you. The odds and ends like the pinstriping and polishing and all that stuff ate up my week. Plus we have tickets to the Chief's home opener Sunday so we're going to miss the fair, unless all this predicted cloudy weather misses us on Saturday, then we MIGHT come down to Wichita to watch the Blue Angels fly. I also had a chance to go to Reno to the air races tomorrow but had to pass on that. Too many things to do, to little time.

For sure I'm planning on coming to Pontiac uprising on the 4th of October in Ark City. And we're also registered to go to RRR the middle of October. We're going to try to keep it real pristine until those are over, then it's going to be a driver.

We build them to drive, not look at. 8-)

Looks *awesome!* I especially like those headlights, wow they work great!

Nice call on the colour too, beautiful.

Hey, are you going to retrofit HID discharge lighting into those halogen sockets? (there are companies that make 9006-socketed HID lamps)

Best!
Ben.
