I just thought I would post some pics of my completed stereo install, plus a nice pic of my GT that I took earlier today.

Here's the sub and one of Ausfiero's door pods:

Here's the headunit, another sub shot, and the driver's side door pod:

The amp and the capacitor behind the passenger side:

The other amp and the crossovers behind the driver side seat:

And this is what it's all in:

Now here's the stereo info:
Headunit: Panasonic CQ-DF801U 60x4 MOSFET, LCD display, among alot of other features. ($300-ebay)

Speakers:
Fronts: Kenwood 4" components ($72-ebay)
Rears: Blaupunkt Overdrive series 4x6's ($40-ebay)
Doors: Kenwood Excelon DualMag 6.5" components ($50 for woofers and crossovers plus another $70 for new tweeters-ebay)
Subwoofer: Pioneer Premier 10" DVC sub ($83-ebay)

Amps:
-Kenwood Excelon KFC-X201T 600x1 or 300x2 ($142-ebay)
-Boss AVA-2001R 100x2 ($50-from a friend) This amp will be replaced soon

Misc:
Lightning Audio Bolt Series 1-Farad Capacitor ($82-ebay)
Wiring from www.knukonceptx.com $40
Sub-Box ($130 from Stimpy)

So the grand total is $1059.
That is the first time that I had actually tallied the cost of my stereo system. For what I have, I feel that it is an amazing price. If I were to have bought these items from a place such as crutchfield, I would have spent probably as much as $500 more!

As for sounds quality, I must say that it is amazing. I am definietly pleased with the setup I have right now. The only things I need is a new amp to replace the Boss amp, and I would like to hook up a graphic equalizer to fine tune the sound a little better.

So, anyways, if you want to upgrade your stereo and save some money, I suggest keeping your eyes open on ebay. There is always good deals on there.

Looks pretty good. I run a stereo shop in MN. Just a suggestion, there is a bracket inside the dash with a hole in it. The back of the factory radio has an alignment pin that goes in it for robot assembly I guess. This bracket does no good for any aftermarket radios, and if you remove it (hammer, saw, whatever) You can use a flush/resessed mounting kit that looks great and doesn't stick out 2 inches. It's also easier to get to the buttons. This is the way almost all GM cars are. The reason it has to stick out with that bracket still there is because the factory radio is not as deep as the aftermarket or "DIN" size. Good luck, and like you said, definately get rid of that boss amp.

For a neater install appearance you should try to run your cables under the carpeting. Just make some small slits in the carpeting and run the wire thru them. It would make your installation look more proffessional an neat.

Thanks for the input.

I really don't mind the wires hanging out that much. You can't see it when the seats are back, so I didn't bother to do much about it except to zip-tie alot of wires together.

I would like to build something to make it look a little more professional, but I have an engine project to worry about now. And all the stereo stuff will be coming out next year so I can Dynmat Extreme the entire interior, so I will probably do it then.

Industrial, Goth, Trance, Drum and Bass, happy hardcore, 80's amongst other things.

trigger: I haven't gotten around to installing the shift kit yet. It is actually going in my 87GT because that one needs a new TCC, so I'm doing it all at once.
