so I'm looking for some honeycomb pattern material to match what's in the defroster vents and my IRM rockers. Anybody got any ideas on where to get some? The closest I can come locally is regular expanded metal.

Not sure if it will fit the IRM's large opening but... You can try the 1985 decklid grills. Its the same stuff used on the dash. I used them on my FOCOA Side Scoops..

Go to your local pickapart junkyard, find a rear vent panel or two (you know, the battery cover on the pass. side, or air filter cover on the driver side) Depending on the year and model you pick, the backs of them are lined with honeycomb shaped material, Your car might have them-check it out! After I found this out, I picked up a couple from the junkyard, I'm going to make screened grilles for the front of it!

Or just go to the local hardware store and buy what they call "Gutter guard" Looks the same. I will be using that in my hood vent...
