Now I guess ive seen an 'ugly' Ferrari . I never heard of it or seen anything in any of my Ferrari books. Im sure Pininfarina didnt design that. I do see some 'Fieroish' looks in the roofline and rear end (chopped off about a foot too soon). I can sure see why it was never produced

Actually, roger, it was produced and sold through the Nieman-Marcus catalogue (although I think there were only a couple made and sold.) The roof panelflips up and slides down behind the seats for a Del
Sol style top.

But yeah, it's coyote ugly.

ok, I knew i recognized that car somewhere! I pulled out my "concept cars" book and its in there.

Its designed by Bertone

heres what it says about it:
Many observers felt thats the 308 GT4 was a dissapointing design. To address such criticism, Bertone produced the Rainbow in 1976, based on the mid-engined 308. The name came about because the solid roof could pivot to the verticle and drop down behind the seats, making the car perfect for sun and rain. There were literally no curves to be seen other than the wheels and tail pipes. Advertised in the American Neiman Marcus store catalogue in 1979 with a price tag of $200,000

Here's another angle...

I guess it was originally designed by Bertone in 1976. It seems to have some interesting scoop/vent stuff going on in the rear. Look at that over the roof scoop and sail panel vents...
Also that cool inlet in front of the rear wheel...
All things considered tho, it is one butt-uggily car!
Galen! I'll be at the meeting, talk to ya then...

The sun roof glass became the REAR window, when it is stowed behind the seat...pretty smart!
