My mothers tenant can do upholstery, even has an industrial sewing machine. The question is, where can I get the fabric to have her do it with? I want the middle of the seat black, with the edges being white.

Anybody know of a good site/supplier to get this from. The local upholstery shop wanted almost $109 for the fabric to do both seats, and could only get me the white in vynle!

You can buy most materials from fabric stores usually in strip malls. Handcock Fabrics, JoAnn Fabrics is a couple around here. Usually only about $10 per yard or less except for leather of course. Most are 54 or 60 inches wide. If not using leather, real naugahyde is very durable, much better than vinyl.

I'll have to check around here for a fabric shop. Should be one somewhere...

The upholstery shop said that they couldn't get the cloth in white, is this true?

Just what kind of animal is a nauga anyway? Are they raised on farms or trapped in the wild like beaver & rabbits?

Don't they live in the same part of the woods as the Artesians? (who here is old enough to remember THAT commercial series?)

LOL!

LOL, I have no idea how naugahyde is made but its 10 times stronger and longer lasting than vinyl. Maybe its got a lot of rubber in content, cause it really stretches a lot. Ive had custom interiors with vinyl that went south in a few years. Ones ive had done with naugahyde outlasted the rest of the car. I think it comes from the naugabeast in the Aus Outback. It cant be killed because bullets and spears cant penetrate it.

It looks like vinyl, wears like leather. Should be in same stores as the vinyl, a little higher priced.

I confess, I'm old enough to remember those dorky Stroh's ads. I also remember a line from an old Alan Sherman song that went:

"My La-Z-Boy's covered with real Naugahyde;
When they killed that Nauga, I sat down and cried..." ...or something like that.

BTW, at Wal*Mart, saw they had some type of fabric called "sail cloth" in gold and a few other colors. It's heavy, and looked liked it might wear pretty well. Just a thought, if you want to go with fabric

The question is, where do they sell vinyl? Or would it just be at a fabric shop?

My dad used to own a Nauga farm in Peru. Well, he was the CEO of the company that sold investment interests in Naugas in the mid 70's. He told me once that he had never really seen the animal but figured that the hyde composition was attributed to the high rubber content diet that they were exposed to in South America. Man were we dissapointed when his buisness went under. All went well untill early 82, when on his way back from a vist to his ranch in Lima, his small plane crashed in the Panamanian jungle just north of the Canal. My mom financed several search and rescue attempts but gave up sometime in the summer of 86. Since then we have only gotten royalty checks from the now defunct corporation. The checks ceased in late 97. We were never allowed to go to Peru to where the Lima plantation was. Mom said that there was nothing to see and that it would only dredge up old heartache. Although she herself went south several time between 86 and 95. My brother thinks that my dad may still be alive and that his "Plane Crash" was just a diversion to escape the IRS. He(my brother) even said that there weren't ever really any "Naugas"!!! I said, "Then where did all of the money come from"?? He said something about a scam and that my father was concidered a fugitive. Yeah, right!!
Well, that's all I know about naugahyde. I sure would like to see what one of those critters look like.

Peace, B2 OUT! :watchout.

PS-Just cause you never saw one, doesn't mean that they don't exist

I hope you morons realize that hunting naugas with anything under a Fanner 50 is illegal. Double capping is right out. A WInchester Saddle is an acceptable substitute.

I suggest you read your hunting law's a bit closer.

Hey Terry, what kind of garbage are you spewing??? I know for a fact, from the man himself, that you don't "HUNT" Naugas; you trap them. Pops once told me that they were fairly stupid an easy to trap. All you need was about 50' of flightline and a can of fresh K-9P lubricant. Something about the scent of the K-9P attracted them. Once they were in range you just drop the flightline on then and haul them out. No biggy. Hey all, Terry was just pulling your leg about the Nauga hunting laws...Sheesh!!!

Peace, B2 OUT
