Look guys... just got my new scoops. Next I'm going to cut the quarters for the openings. Then glass them in.

Can anyone guess what and where they're from???

i know a 2nd gen trans am part when i see one, and that IS a t/a fender scoop/vent. i was thinking of buying a set myself and trying to add them to the fiero 1/4 pannels. when my blazer sells i will probably pick up a set of 1/4 pannels and t/a scoops to see if i can make it work or not.

They are, without a doubt, T/A fender vents.
The guessing should have stopped by now.

I've seen them used as side scoops, and they looked pretty good.

Yup. They're 2nd gen T/A fender extractors.
I've also seen 'em used as hood vents.

Ron- good to see you back on the Forum... it's been awhile!

As for the scoops... I think they'll look sweet! I'd suggest cutting the quarter panel and fitting them as close as possible- maybe even bolting them in to hold in place. Then glass them smooth so they appear original to the panels.

are you gonna vent it to the wheel well to make it functional? (by letting some trapped air in the wheel well escape through the vent holding the car down better at high speeds"

Yes the vents are going in for function and for looks. The T/As had this strictly for looks, these are to get more mass air in the engien and to cool it down...
Plus these are totally different than what everyone else has...

Paint them Lucerne Blue and they would look just like the ones on my 72 455-HO Trans Am.
I have to disagree with the just for looks statement. At least on early 70's T/A's, these vents were open and used to bleed high pressure air from the engine compartment. The 72 also had the last year of the functional hood scoop. Pontiac boarded them up in 73 to meet drive by noise standards.

Post some pics when you finish the install.
