This should go under O/T , just you all to see it

I'm a retired firefighter & Fire Police. Was with a station in Walkersville MD, Company 11, for over 20 years. We had Blue fire trucks !!!

Yes blue - A Richard Petty blue & white. I'll post some shots.

Being Fire Police, that allowed me to have emergency lights on my car. We could only use them on scene, not for responding. (darn it !)

I had them on the rear deck & front dash in my Ford Contour. While driving to work, many people would slow way down when comming up on my car after seeing the lights.

The last two are retired units (Parade pieces)

Since moving to Florida, I've joined a company here in Punta Gorda.

I've always wondered about standardizing colors, too. Red and white for fire vehicles, black and white for police, and brown and white for sheriffs. Wouldn't it make it a lot simpler to recognize an emergency vehicle if they were like that?

it looks like a m15 (or m10 some M thing army truck) they where available to the public, and for emergency crews brand new but most of them you see on the road and in museums are ex army trucks. My great uncle had one that was painted the blue green that you usually see MG's painted. As far as i know he is restoring it.

The middle one is an M37 variant. I forget all the exact codeing for the vehicles but it deos have a winch and the spare tire is not in the standard place for an M37. It has a flathead I6 for power. Also similiar ones were made for civilian use in the 50's and these were just plain ol' Power Wagons.

While red is still the most "popular" (and most recognizable) color for fire vehicles, many towns/cities are going to the yellowish/green color as they are much more visible.

that blue one in the middle looks like a Dodge Powerwagon. Our fire department had RED fire engines, isnt that nuts? no..not the fact that they are red but the fact that our twon which is like 1/5th the size of an averge town actually has a fire department. A neiboring town has yellow fire engines

Wasn't that a rare colour for fire engines only produced in 1987?

The local FD here has different colors on their equipment for some reason- the largest trucks are that nasty yellow/green and the smaller ones are red.

I sent an email to the company, should have the answers soon.

My memory says it's about 1952 Army surplus with flathead 6, 4 wheel drive. With the modifcations made to it,(extra weight) Tank / water / pump it would do about 50 mph at the most. (took awhile to get up to speed)

Is geared very low, more for climbing through brush / offroad. I've seen it go in/over places that would make anyone with an offroad truck proud!

Used to be 6 volt system, modified to 12 volt.

It's a "soft top". Has an old fashion siren /light set up that dates from the fiftys.

I have an old boss who collects fire trucks. He has about 80 of them ranging from 1902 to 1992 years. He would know. Any chance you could send me some bigger pics?
