I don't know of any distinguishing marking so I would just suggest using a board (2x4) and a ruler. I think the offset on those 14" wheels is 35 mm. That would mean the distance between the mounting surface and the back of the wheel is 111.2 mm, or 4 3/8 inches. The distance between the inside of the mounting surface and the plain of wheel face should then be 1 5/8 inches since the wheel is 6" wide.
I may just be stating the obvious but I've recently gone over the offset calculations so I had the numbers on hand. No insult intended.

What you are looking for is a lip on the outside of the wheel......the Fiero has this lip while the Grand Am, etc. did not (it was flush).

Grand Am 14" hi-tecks will fit the Fiero, but will look wrong (missing that all important lip).

i think the correct wheels for the fiero have the one inch lip on the outside diameter like on the rear of the 88 GT lace wheels

Fiero wheels have about 1/2" lip; Grand Am wheels are nearly flush. I have a pair of Grand Am wheels with "48JJ" cast into one of the spokes inside the wheel; I think this indicates 48mm offset.

Grand Am wheels work fine on the front of my '85; they reduce scrub radius and lighten steering.
