Hey all, is it me, or is there ALOT of Fieros being taken to the junkyards the last 2 or so months, within the last week i have seen approx 25 fieros in 3 junkyards, usually i'm lucky to see 5! ranging in all years. Even some '88's(about 5), just today i found another '88 coupe. I don't know about you but i hate seeing any '88 in the yard. Just my thoughts!...Good day!..Jim('84 Indy)

Thank You Fierobruiser! beachbomb and HummelHund, you can send me the info at either John.Willhoff@LMCO.com or JwWillhoff@aol.com. Without fellows like you, so many cars would disappear without so much as a whimper. I'd appreciate getting the VINs, colors (inside, outside and wheel colors for GTs), and the tranny options, if possible. Any other info you can get is also welcome, but I don't want to make this too tough on you. Basically, I'll take what I can get! beachbomb and HummelHund, I hope you can save as many '88 parts as possible. Up here in Atlanta, one big chain (two separate yards) routinely has 5 new fieros every 45 days or so. That's just one business, and we've got lots of junkyards here. I can see the day coming when we won't see ANY fieros in the junkyards. About 18 months ago, I got some info on the population of fieros in one state. If you extrapolate from one state over the US population, and ignore exports and unregistered cars, the numbers show that 2/3rds of these little guys were off the books. Since then, I imagine we've lost quite a few more to the crushers. So, thanks for helping me record their passage, and if people would like a summary of the 2950 cars in the '88 Database, email me at one of the above and I'll send you a copy.
Take Care All,
Database Guy/Nut, (770) 578-6556, Marietta GA

I'll try and help in any way I can. One of the 88's is a factory yellow coupe, the other is a white coupe. Both have thrown rods. I may be getting the fascias off the white one for a swap to my 84', I'll be sure to get the VINs and such off of it if I do. I wish I still lived in Macon, GA, I'd come up there and help you out .

Do they sell whole cars? Is there anything else, besides the engine, wrong with the yellow one?
I have a nice 85K mile '88 duke motor waiting for a new home!
LMK.
BTW......databaseguy, here are a couple of VIN's for you:
1G2PE11RxJP218266 (I can't remember the check digit, so I put in an "x"....I'll get the correct digit this weekend)
It was a white '88 coupe with gray interior, 5-sp., sunroof, WO2 package & 100K miles. It was junked (and is now stripped), but all that was wrong with it was a bad clutch.
It had a rear fascia from another '88 coupe....here's its VIN:
1G2PE11R0JP221050
All I know about it is it was a white '88 coupe. Since the rear fascia was on another Fiero I can only assume that it too has been junked.

Yup, fieros are going fast around here. I wish I had the time to go to the yards every other week. A local yard had at least 10 when I bought my car a year and a half ago. went there when I finished my resto and they only had one, it was stripped. I would like to get together with some of the other local fiero owners and set up some type of schedule for checking the bone yards.

Banzai - I'm up for checking yards - especially once the weather warms up a bit (Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm a cold weather wimp. So what?) If you want to spend a Saturday making the rounds in MI, let me know.

If the 88s have good suspension parts going to the crusher, tell Ed Parks! His e-mail is fierofactory@juno.com . At one time, Ed was trying to buy up all the 88 cars he could, for the suspension parts.

Actually, most of the '88's i've seen have had complete suspensions(one '88 just got to the junk yard while i was there and was complete! Just had a spun bearing). It just kills me to see '88's in there though, one day i'll own one! I've also noticed that most fieros in junk yards are not wrecked, most are intact, and most of the 4 cyclinders are there because of there timing gear stripping out, a $15 part puts a fiero in the boneyard. That also ticks me off...Jim('84 Indys)

Mrfiero, The yellow 88' is actually behind a auto repair shop and they would sell it whole, I think they were asking $600. Other than the thrown rod I don't know of anything mechanical wrong with it, though I didn't give it a thorough inspection. I'm not enough of a mechanic to buy a Fiero with a dead engine . The paint's a little faded and the interior has the normal Fiero wear and tear, the car might look pretty good with a little elbow grease. It does have a broken side view mirror, it was just hanging off of the door. If y'all are interested in more info I'll try to go out and see it and get some more info and some pics if I can. The car is located in Ft. Walton Beach, FL Sean W.

Thanks......I'll let you know, but it looks like I just found an '88 WO2 coupe for about the same price locally (and it runs!).
