Talked to a guy today, he once owned an Indy, and still has the factory decal set - still wraped up.

What do you think they'd be worth today ?

Hmmm...NOS? Good question. I know that you can buy repros from places like Phoenix Graphix..whole kit containing everything including the PONTIAC across the windshield for around 200 bucks. Thats where Im gonna get mine.

He didn't know what he had, I told him he could visit the forum & ask around.

_ Then another guy told him he could get maybe 200 or so. - If that other guy kept his mouth shut, someone might of got them for 20 - 30 bucks !! Now the guy knows he's got something valuable. lol

I say talk to HAZE_PERFORMANCE and see what he has to say. he may buy them off of you or that guy. Or post a question on the forum saying you know someone that has the Decals unopened and he is willing to sell them.. Someone will buy them. All you have to do is ask... Also ask anyone who has an Indy but not the Decals for the side... That may be an easier way to sell them.

GOOD LUCK

Dave,

The Phoenix Graphics replacement Indy decals that My7 mentioned are $219. That includes decklid, red stripe, doors and windshield decals.

So I figure on the $200 figure being right for a set of OEM unhurt ones. Assuming of course there's a buyer to whom it's that important. And I'm sure they exist...remember that someone paid $2500 (as I recall) just around New Year's for Chief's NOS wheels and decals.

Link to their site: http://www.phoenixgraphix.com/gm/1984if.htm

Cheers,
Andrew - Indy Dreamer
EDIT: didn't realize that My7 had already mentioned Phoenix...someday I'll wake up...someday

IF.. They are in a factory GM bag with part #'s & they are not dried up & in perfect shape.... He should start out asking around $500. I know that might seem a little high but they are original... & no matter what.. a reproduction is still a reproduction. Thats well worth the price to someone thats restoring one back to original.

Even better.. When you restore your Indy.. DON'T put on the door decals. (Pontiac didn't, the dealers or customer had to install them) So you buy his & set them in the trunk at shows..

I don't know about the door decals, but laying my new spare Indy fiero decklid decal over the origional, perfectically identical. That being said, the origional door decals are worth much more as memorabilia as long as they are NOT inteded to be applied to a car, because after that, they are worth just as much as used repro's. (no value) However, the red fading dot supplied with the phoenix grafix kit is not identical to the origional, witch is actually smaller. 1" vs 1-1/4" so the origional stripe is probably really worth something. only they are probably impossible to find.
