Well, here are some pics of the mods I did to the 3400 engine to get it into my car...I know I've been promising pics.
The bracket I made to axe the power steering pump. Also has a little shield for the fuel pressure guage.
Difference between 200 and 105 amp alternators.
The crank trigger installed on the balancer. See the sensor mounted on a sturdy adjustable bracket that is attached to the A/C mount bracket I designed.
To keep the engine in place I made this engine-stick. I may redesign it, but it works. Allows tiniest amount of movement via poly bushing--wonder what they are for
View of top of engine...she's pretty.

Pic of the first time I started it...out of the car! Laptop kept me updated on the sensors. Started on the second try!
My design, front mount. On top of cradle. Worked out nice.
My adapted fuel pressure regulator...revised the bracket to make it work.
(oh...if you ever get the bright idea to raise the tie rods to make things parallel-reduce bumpsteer--don't bother. would have to do it to the OTHER end!)
My custom headers...one of these days I'll take them off clean them up and send them out for jet hot coating.
Revised throttle cable braket. Added a roller bearing "pulley" to allow for 100% throttle. Had to flip the linkage around.

Have you had to take off the intake, yet? I've got a 3400SFI in my 99 Grand Am. Great engine, but apparently they are prone to intake gasket leaks. It's a plastic gasket that can only take about 10lbs-ft to torque it down. The bad part is, when it goes, you get coolant in your oil. Keep an eye on the oil condition. I've heard about this on http://www.grandamgt.com .

Yeah, had everything apart. Modified cam, new bearings, etc.
I was told about the intake problem(after the swap naturally)by someone that used to work for a dealership. Oh well...I'll keep an eye on it! Runs great!

so whats better... a 3400 or a 3.4. i want to do a 3.4 swap and was planning to get a crate motor and use my fiero intake... but if the 3400 is a lot better then i might reconsider, even though it cant utilize the fiero intake.
I have to say, the car looks much better IN the car. The trunk scoop is nice and smooth, very cleanly done. Everything on the car is top notch.. You will be VERY surprised if he was to post some more pics.. Me thinks someone is holdin out on us. Now.. to get that clutch pedal fixed, right Joe?? I have heard this car run and attempted to be moved. The car didn't want to go anywhere however..
Haha... Great work, Keep it up!!! This think will Be awesome if you get it done. Heck, even if you finish the like 100 things in progress now, you'll have come up with about 20 more by then. I hope everything works out for ya!

This engine came out of a Olds Sillouette...same as the other minivans and similar to the Grand Am. IMO, its better than the 3.4...especially worked up a bit
Drawback is the electrical work. Can't just put the 'ol 2.8 stuff on it. I'm running a TECII engine managemnet system requires the crank trigger, and the stock sensors(except stock crank & cam sensors) but thats pretty much it.
The other rotten part is that the high mount alternator won't clear the notchback lid...it may clear the GT. So, I made a vent/scoop.
I hear ya Johnny...if I could only get it into reverse...grrr.

This has to be THE CLEANEST engine I've yet seen put into a Fiero
Joe, did you bead blast, steam clean, then lick everything or what?!
Looks great, that intake is just shiney and georgeous! I'm genuinely impressed, NICE JOB!
I wanna see your car for real soon.
Best! Ben.

well the 3.4 isn't a ture 3.4.. 3400 is.. but just port the lower plenum/manifolds/tb and I don't think you'd be disappointed, i wanted the stock fiero look for the formula happy with mine

Yes, Ben, my tongue hurt for days after! It was pretty clean to start with. Some degreaser and brush/water got things clean. Dunno...I think you have the cleanest engine I've seen! You put her in yet!?
Oh..to answer Gt's question, no kit was used. I made/"engineered" everything myself.
