I spent four years in the Untied States Marine Corps with the Security Force Company in Kings Bay Georgia(2 years), and with 3rd Battalion/ 3rd Marines(0311 grunt)in Hawaii(2yrs) from 1995-1999. I was wondering if anyone else has done any Time, and if so, where did you serve.

I am a retired Marine - it would take forever to tell my military history. But suffice to say I did 3 full tours in 'Nam served in the Dominican Crisis, and my last gig was the Hostage rescue attempt where my squadron left some scrap aluminum that used to be CH53 helicopters in the sand.
I currently am in aircraft maintenance management at American Airlines.

I'm not in the Armed Forces at all, but I do consult for a civilian company that builds the airbourne IR camera systems that let you guys see in the dark and fog
That count?
Best! Ben.

4 Years US NAVY spent most of my time at a SIMA in Charleston SC. I was also part of the base security so I was able to practice with the 45 and 12 gage every month. I was swore in on April fools day 1986 when I got to boot camp and started talking to career consolers I found out what active reservist meant. That’s right I was not going home to be a reservist I was being sent to Charleston to train reservists. All is good I made it the 4 years and even learned a few things.

Chester and I both served in the Navy. We met in "A" school in Millington, TN. Chester was in for 12 years. He did 2 Med cruises. One on the Nimitz and one on the Eisenhower. He was stationed at Norfolk and Oceana. I was in for almost a year, but got out on an Honorable due to knee injury.

I did 6 years active duty in the Navy from '69-'75 as a Fire Control Tech. Did 1-1/2 Med. cruises on the F.D. Roosevelt (CVA-42), then transferred to the Manley (DD-940) in NORVA and homeported it in Athens, Greece for a few years. That was the best time of my whole hitch! Came back to CONUS in '74 to finish out my time. Curry Obenshain www.vafieros.com

My brother is active Navy. He's a Communications Specialist at the Naval Hospital in Bremerton, WA.
My Grandfather was a career military man. He served in the Navy and the Army. World War 2 and Korea.
My uncle served for 2 tours in Vietnam. the first when he was 18, then he got wounded by an air raid. Then after being state side recovering they sent him back at 19. go figure. Another uncle was also Vietnam.
My cousin is active duty Army Infantry, amrored division.
Served 8 years in the Army as a Medic, from '87 to '95. Stationed in Hawaii, Arkansas, Panama, and then Texas. Best time I ever had was when I was on active jump duty in Panama. I wouldn't trade my military experience for anything.

WOW!! What a small world! That is almost exactly when we were stationed at McChord. My dad was in the Air Force (20+ years) as an aircraft mechanic/electrician and my earliest memories are from McChord/Tacoma.
I believe we were there from early '74-August '79.....we then went to Kadena AFB on Okinawa, Japan.
As for me......I had a brief stint in the Navy (stationed at Groton, CT on the USS Dallas), but after being dumped out of the Nuke program I got a little disgruntled and "forced" them to discharge me after 1 year 2 months & 10 days (long story!).
If I could do it again I would NOT sign up as a Nuke......if I didn't back in '91 I would have been much happier. Oh well.

22 years in the U.S. Air Force, mostly flightline maintenance (F-4, A-10, F-15) and expeditor. Assignments include MacDill, Langley, Suwon, Camp New Amsterdam, and the 33rd at Eglin. Did the Gulf war too where our unit got 16 of the 34 aerial victories. Supported most of the contingencies afterwards until retirement in May of 99. Lots of Chem Gear and 12 hour shifts. Right now I'd like to go back in but a disability won't let me.

Five years, USArmy, late '80s. I never saw any combat. Spent most of my time in school. Satellite commo, transportation, Air Assault, Airborne school, 1/2 way through Hell Week for Ranger school , demolition, etc. Honorable discharge at E-5 SGT. Stationed at various bases in the States plus a few short "vacations" to England and Germany. Almost made it to Japan, but ETSed too soon. No medals, too young for 'Nam and missed Desert Storm by a couple of months. At the end, I foolishly made a lateral transfer to the Indiana Nat'l Guard. One of the worst mistakes I've ever made. If I'd stayed active duty, I'd probably still be in, waiting to retire. (Of course, I'd probably be a General by now. ) I was on the bubble for WO school just waiting for someone to get sick or hurt so I could go. Unfortunately...
